Shepolopolo battle Ghana in friendly

Shepolopolo hosts The Black Queens Ghana this afternoon in an international friendly at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

Both sides are using the friendly to prepare for their 2018 Women’s AFCON that Ghana is hosting from November 18 to December 2 in Accra and at Cape Coast.

“Ghana is one of the top teams in Africa but it is good that we have secured a friendly against them. It will be a great opportunity to gauge our players and maybe Ghana too can learn something from us,” Shepolopolo coach Bruce Mwape said.

The game will mark Shepolopolo’s first official match since entering pre-tournament camp in Lusaka on October 14.

It will also see Shepolopolo return to action for the first time since September when they finished fourth at the 2018 COSAFA Women’s Championship in South Africa.

Ghana will also give Shepolopolo some valuable mileage against West African opposition ahead of their big looming penultimate Group B date at the tournament against African champions Nigeria on November 20.

The Black Queens will also be Shepolopolo’s second West African opponent before to the 2018 Women’s AFCON after beating 2016 runners-up Cameroon 1-0 in the COSAFA Cup group stage and losing 1-0 to the latter in the semifinals at the same tournament.
