Efficient Nkana beat Simba, Green Eagles on the brink

Share

Nkana on Saturday continued their march to towards qualification to the 2018/2019 CAF Champions League group stage following a 2-1 home win over Simba SC of Tanzania.

Nkana outplayed Simba in the first half who had come into the match armed with an 8-1 aggregate first round win over Mbabane Swallows of eSwatini.

Goals by Ronald Kampamba and Kelvin Mubanga in the 25th and 56th minutes respectively gave Nkana the win.

John Bocco pulled one back from the spot in 72nd minute after he was fouled by Musa Mohammed.

The return leg is set for December 22 in Dar es Salaam and a draw for Nkana will suffice to see them qualify to the group stage.

However, a 1-0 win for Simba will see them qualify on away goals rule.

Meanwhile at Nkoloma Stadium, Green Eagles finished 0-0 against Hussein Dey of Algeria in their CAF Confederation Cup second round first leg match, leaving themselves with an uphill battle to qualify for January’s pre-group stage.

The final leg is set for Algiers on December 22.

  1. The players must mindful areas to foul the opponents. However, that was not supposed to be a penalty. Keep it up Nkana though I have never been a Nkana since the Rhokana days! Why?Because there was one rough player called baZee.He was very rough and delighted in breaking opponents legs.My brother used to play for Kitwe United and was staunch supporter of Kitwe United at Buchi Stadium. Zose were days of entertaining football passionately played by patriotic players!!

  2. @facts JAMES CHAMA WAS NOT THE FATHER TO WISDOM CHANSA EVEN FROM THE SURNAMES U CAN TELL THAT HE WAS NOT THE FATHER, JAMES CHAMA IS THE FATHER TO THE ONLY ZAMBIAN PLAYER IN SIMBA SC TEAM CHAMA WHO WAS BRIBED NOT TO SCORE AGAINST NKANA TODAY, THE BOY IS GOOD BUT WAS CAUTIONED NOT TO SCORE ON NKANA EVEN WHEN THEY RETURN TO DAR. COACH FOR SIMBA HAS VOWED NEVER TO USE CHAMA IN DAR AGAINST NKANA , TODAY CHAMA MISSED A PENALTY EVERYONE COULD SEE THAT IT WAS A DELIBERATE MOVE TO KICK HIGH

The Malitoli brothers Kenneth “Bubble ” and Molton, Kapampwe Mulenga, Jericho Shinde, Zeddy Saileti, Numba Mwila, Beston Chambeshi, Ben Bamfushile, Timothy Mwitwa, it’s been a decade but if I have left out some names please, forgive me and help me out here. Go Zambia!!!!!!

    • Jericho Shinde and Co dominated in the 1980s and by 1994 Jericho had become coach of Kalulushi Modern Stars. The rest I can’t remember what they did.
