The Immigration Department has deported an Indian national on grounds that his conduct was likely to be a danger to peace and good order.

Patel Vali 31, was deported from Zambia on Saturday December 29, 2018 at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka for forgery and unlawful stay.

Immigration Department Public Relations Officer, Namati Nshinka said Patel was deported in accordance with Section 39 (2) of the Immigration and Deportation Act number 18 of 2010 of the Laws of Zambia.

Nshinka said in a press statement to ZANIS in Lusaka yesterday that there is no room in Zambia for foreign nationals who with impunity, engage in criminal activities.

The deportation follows Vali’s conviction and subsequent sentencing to pay fines of K30, 000 and K20, 000, in October 2018.

“Any foreign national involved in illegal activities in Zambia risks being arrested, prosecuted and removed or deported,” Nshinka said.

    • Stupid approach. In normal countries any foreigner who commits a crime is arrested, prosecuted & if found guilty first serves a jail sentence & at the end of that sentence that’s when he is deported. Now in Zambia a foreigner is special, they commit a crime the government buys them a free airticket to their home. Stupid leadership from as far chiluba to date

    • So, Bongo Bongo – we’re supposed to pay to keep this chap in prison when we can simply send him back to India to wash his dirty self in the river?

  1. Haha, he didn’t get his reg in time or learn how to speak bemba or nyanja like the other Indians, these people are all the same

  2. “Any foreign national involved in illegal activities in Zambia risks being arrested, prosecuted and removed or deported,” Nshinka said.”

Why not Prosecute, jail and only deport him after he serves his sentence. Looks like something is being covered up here.

  3. Can immigration clarify the crime he
    Committed. So other offenders can
    Take note.He should have tested
    Chimbokaila before deportation.

  4. Some Bloggers have misunderstood the read here. Read below carefully:
“The deportation follows Vali’s conviction and subsequent sentencing to pay fines of K30, 000 and K20, 000.”
The court sentenced this criminal to pay fines; he was not sentenced to serve jail time. SO HE PAID THE FINES AND AS PER IMMIGRATION LAWS HE WAS DEPORTED.

    • @No Zinka…
For forging the permit he was convicted to pay a fine of K30,000.
For illegal stay in Zambia he was convicted to pay K20,000.
These crimes do not warrant a custodial sentence like “Stealing a Chicken” – When you steal you deserve custodial sentence.

  5. Arrest and deport Mushota too back to cold dreary Scotland .Zambia doesn’t need abusers ,foreign criminals and boastful nobodies.

  6. I still feel there is more we can do in Zambia to get rid of illegal immigrants .Compared to neighbouring countries who have strict ways of monitoring illegal immigrants,it’s important that police officers and immigration officers can go and learn from their Botswana counterparts who are doing very well in this area.,so that we reduce the number of illegal immigrants in Zambia.

  7. If immigration dept did their work, hundreds if not thousands of foreigners would face deportation as many immigration laws are violated here in Zambia. Immigration should introduce a program to report illegal immigrants, each informer gets K500.00 per illegal immigrant and the suspect is charged maximum fines and deported. The informers get fined from the fines… That’s job creation ( trump style)

  8. The problem with the immigration department there are so many crooked officers that in no time the deported character will be on Zambian soil.
Who is giving Somalians immigration papers and how many are legally in Zambia. We visited the small town of Chililabombwe and Kasumbalesa in particular, the place is so dirty like there is no council in place and the place is awash with Congolese selling in the Zambian Market and Somalians everywhere trading as well.

    • Tobwa Master, Somalians and Congolese are Africans. They’re our people. They shouldn’t be a priority, unless they’re committing crimes. The Chinese, Indians, Lebanese…these should be first priority in deportation.

  9. Patel Vali simply refused to pay bribery money to corrupt Zambian immigration chaps. So many illegal chaps are in Zambia including Chinese so long they pay a bribe to avoid deportation.

  10. You made me laugh all of you who give the negative comments here!! So, it looks like you do not like any foreigner here in Zambian Land??!! You are wrong all of you, and make attention that, even you, the time will teach you that all pipo are the same!
    Enjoy your discrimination!!!

    • David Mweemba…it’s not that we don’t like foreigners in Zambia. We don’t CRIMINAL foreigners in Zambia. No country wants criminal foreigners, including there were you are.
