Health Minister Dr. Chitalu Chilufya has announced the evacuation of Republican Vice President of Zambia, Mrs Inonge Wina for medical check up in South Africa following a health encounter last night.

The Minister stated that the Veep was first evacuated to UTH last night where a multidisciplinary medical team competently treated her for a heart condition.

Dr. Chilufya stated that President Lungu visited Mrs Wina at UTH last night and commended the team of specialists for competently attending to her.

He stated that in order to consolidate the VEEPs scheduled review and the anticipated short recuperation period, the President has facilitated her evacuation for a thorough medical checkup.

Dr. Chilufya said that the Vice President who is in high spirits was seen off at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport by himself, the Minister in the Vice Presidents Office Hon. Sylvia Chalikosa and acting Secretary to the Cabinet Mr Patrick Kangwa among other senior government officials.

Hon. Chilufya said the nation will be kept informed on the matter as need arises.

    • Wishing you a quick recovery mama. Praying that you be back soon to hold this nation together for without you mama, things are not the same.

    • As a human, I pit you and wish you well mama Inonge.

Otherwise, shame on you and your cabinet for failing to raise standards at UTH, so that you are competently looked after here in Zambia.

You have no trust in our health system, and that Chilufya guy, instead of defending Zambian doctors, he is the first one to spit in their faces.

    • You are there ignorantly wishing her a quick recovery for a health check to RSA flown in $80 million Gulf Stream jet…if this morons and imbeciles used half of that on improving facilities at UTH there woul be no need for these expensive evacuation.
When our mothers are sick they dont have that luxury …we have to put up with PF expired and fake imported Indian/Chink medicines.

These fooooools have no trust in our doctors why should we have confidence in them as politicians who are living in denial..this is to those foooools wishing these selfish people quick recovery!!

    • So this is admission from the Government that Zambian trained doctors can’t be trusted to cure anything. Turn Ridgeway Campus into a nursing school!

    • This old woman is supposed to be enjoying her retairment, but corrupt crook lungu keeps a senil vp to avoid being eclipsed by a younger active vp

    • I have mixed feelings about handling of Zambian health care in general bottom line being its neglect by successive leaderships in government to create conducive institutions that would be beneficial for all the citizens. The local incompetence arises from politicians opting for ‘luxurious’ make believe better treatment options for themselves at the expense of the taxpayers. Of course it’s a normal thing to do wishing the vice president well but at the same time she and the team in government must bear the slack of ignoring local institutions! Moreover does it not self occur to understand she needs retirement comfort?

    • IF PF were kicked out today you would see a lot of people dying like flies as they are sucking the taxpayers dry like mosquitoes remove that and no free RSA medical tourism…which company can afford to take you to India for a month in hospital and RSA in a space of 6 months!!

    • How long are we going to spend taxpayers money to enrich South African Hospitals? Why can’t we use these resources to buy equipment, Drugs and train our doctors to handle some of these complicated medical conditions? Don’t we have Cardiologists, Physicians, Neurosurgeons in Zambia?
Zambia Medical Association and RDAZ why are you quiet over such issues? Don’t keep quiet because you want to protect your jobs.

    • You would have to be the biggest foo1 not to notice that corrupt Lungu and his Vice have no confidence in Zambia’s health facilities. That’s why they don’t hesitate to run to South Africa, whenever they have some urgent medical needs, while everyone else goes to sub-standard Zambian hospitals that have no proper equipment and no medication. They don’t even have trust in our own doctors, who work under very difficult conditions. Corrupt Lungu has already been in office for four years now. That’s long enough for him to have made some upgrade to our health facilities in the country. But the truth is, he doesn’t care about ordinary Zambians, as long as him and his posse have South Africa and India to run to for their medical needs. These clowns have wasted so much money on unimportant…

    • … stuff…money that could’ve been used to upgrade our hospitals and our schools. Only in Africa do people accept sub-standard services from their government, because we don’t value ourselves that much—otherwise we would strongly demand that politicians deliver
better services. When are we going to have a president in Zambia that truly cares about all Zambians, and patriotic enough to bring about real positive development that’ll benefit all of us, and not just a select few?

    • Little Children are dying who have sickle cells because they can not afford the medicine and there is no folic acid available and you are here praying for this lucky old hen Bo Inonge who has an army of doctors at her disposal to add insult to injury even has a plane waiting for her at the KKIA to take her to Awerp Luxury hospital in RSA which of course is all paid for by you the poor over taxed Zambian.

    • PF want creat space for GBM.
PF just want a by-election over Inonge, they want to make sure their specialist put Bo Inonge in same state as Mulongoti.

  1. Sort out the health services in Zambia and that way, you will save up a lot of money and you won’t have to “evacuate”. No brainer !! We’ll never prosper as a country with all this reckless spending of taxpayers money. Embarrassing !!

    • Pray for the people in UTH who have to given this fake medicine Chi Dr. Chilufya orders from his Indian and Chinese pharmaceuticals at inflated prices…this is why the fly out even for simple issues as bruised arm as they dont trust their own medicine they buy..its like running a restaurant using dog meat instead of beef no way would you let you children eat there.
      Carry on praying!!

  2. I don’t know what to say, but the PF keeps campaigning that they have improved health care and services in Zambia that none of them wants to use.
    No ill will, but kaya.

  3. This woman is too old ..who should stay covered up and enjoying time with her grandchildren. LAZY LUNGU needs a Verp like the articulate KBF to keep him on his toes instead of dancing everyday.

  4. Retire her in public interest.Too old to continue with that health.Waste of taxpayers money. Improve our health
    Facilities which is a priority.

    • That’s what happens the lies will catch now its getting cold and she will be forced to show herself like at that National Dialogue Forum…I bet you she hardly stays in the office 8 hours and she is simply enjoying herself till 2021 without shame….LAZY LUNGU is all to happy as he has no one bothering him!!

  5. Kindly guide me on this, what will happen if she is to resign or die since she was on the ballot as running mate. what does the constitution say regarding VP succession.

  6. Get well soon mama.
These evacuations must stop becoz they are a drain on our national resources – you can’t afford to pay civil servants (City Council, Postal Service workers, worst case – Pensioners, etc) on time but you can afford those luxurious clinics in South Africa, with Zambian Doctors – It doesn’t sense to me. God bless Zambia!

  7. We stressed Dr Levy Mwanawasa out instead of allowing him to rest from politics, we are now at it again stressing Bo Ma Wina, all because of our selfish needs, Bo Ma Wina needs to rest, so that she can at least enjoy her life without undue pressure, I am appealing to her Family to sit her down and discuss this fully, it is for he benefit, people within the PF circles will not make that decision for the Family, for them, they will push her to stay on in order to avoid the fight from within for that vacancy which may be created, but they will not look at her health, Just recently she was made to go into the roan campaign which was very stressful, we are not being fair to some extent, preservation of life is more important than these political games. If Dr Kaunda was not allowed to rest as…

    • I think the review mentioned will provide a moment of reflection and I am sure she might want to rest now or maybe…..she’ll surprise us and recouperate fully and give us until 2021!!!

  8. well he could not have been enjoying his current health status. But it is up to the family to look into this critically, we may at the end of the day start to point fingers which is not also very good.

  9. Its really difficult to comment. Wish her quick recovery. However, let us not point fingers at each other in times when our coleague is un well.It is sad there is just too much hatred in the country.

  10. @14 – Shouldn’t she be making the decision to retire under health grounds, herself ? Why should her family or anyone else decide about her decision to down her tools ? The South Africa n doctors surely have a large volume of her medical records as proof of her deteriorating health … a genuine reason for retirement under medical grounds .
Why are Zambian hospitals and health care professionals being undermined by government ?? It’s called inferiority complex …

    • Shell retire when she’s good and ready! It’s not called inferiority, it’s called good precaution to get a second opinion or treatment not available at home.

  11. Agreed with all said @ Enlightened and tricky Lungu made the choice of her as one of no ambition to steal the limelight from him. A younger vibrant intelligent rather than wise vice president would have been too much to handle. The inferiority complex undermining Zambian health care and hospitals is acceptably insinuated in the minister’s ‘justifying’ the evacuation. One would think such is a platform he’d add a word or two to request for attention to local health care plights.

  12. We should all keep Mama Wina in our prayers for a successful treatment programme, and quick recovery. She’s lovely, and has been in service for Zambia since independence, a real trooper. And may she continue until she feels she can slow down!

Along the Great East Road, she has been a good neighbour, providing a place for family entertainment at Barns, my family have enjoyed dropping by for drinks on our way to our farm.

God Bless her with health and recovery.

    • Treatment for what? This moron chi Dr Chilufya just said that a multidisciplinary medical team competently treated her for a heart condition….so why is she going to RSA…pray for people who can not even see a doctor for 6 months!!

  13. Lazy Lungu can’t let her go. She’s Veep because she engineered Lungu’s presidency for of and subsequently Zambia as old as she is. Remember Guy Scott suspended as chair person of the party during the wrangles for leadership after Sata’s demise. She put him there. What Lungu is doing is just let her sleep unbothered knowing he has no challenge. If there was an energetic and robost Veep Lungu was not going to be singing 2021 now. She is not also about service but just enjoying. Very selfish creatures

  14. @20.. We don’t need “lovely” politicians and we don’t care about your entertainment at Barns or wherever that is, with her. We are interested in politicians with a true vision and progress for Zambia. Lovely , dancing, alcohol and the evacuations are unacceptable!!

    • You’re right, you don’t need lovely…… only a kick up the wazooma for being desrepectful to a sick old woman, who has served your country well.

You did this evil and wicked, haranguing to late President Sata and now again to an ill woman.

  15. Educated Zambians prefer to get medical treatment from uneducated SAns. I wonder who’s educated here. Sh!thole country.

  16. Madam Wina you are now close to eighty years old.Pleases your family still needs you. Therefore avoid stressful things like campaigning in Roan and attending two church services on one Sunday. Please also avoid wearing wigs.It is not good for your blood circulation. We however wish you a quick recovery.

  17. Get better soon. We thank god you have the opportunity to be flown to SA for treatment, but what about fellow Zambians who haven’t got that opportunity. Zambia needs to have healthcare for every individual. We have so many minerals etc to have a better healthcare. Those in charge of such need to wake up and smell the coffee! Do you actually think your relatives in the next few years will get that opportunity to be sent abroad for treatment??? Let’s make Zambian a beautiful better place

  18. Bo kuku mufole kapilipili sha.I had so much hope in you in ensuring your people from Barotse land are not harrassed in the civil service. Awe sure except for your close relatives every one is being retired in national and public interests.

  19. Shameless people you are even confident talking as if it’s making sense it even shows the incompetence of our medical staffs we have in this rotten and corrupt health Zambian fraternity. Shame on you .

  20. Get well soon mama.in Zambia it seems we don’t have Doctors only veterinary who treats dogs in clinics and hospitals.employ south African Doctors than evacuating Zambian people at a high expenses or take Zambians doctors to the same University South African Doctors went.
