Son to late veteran political leader Anderson Mazoka, Lundu Mazoka has died.

Lundu died last night in Durban.

Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa His Excellency Emmanuel Mwamba confirmed the development.

He said the High Commission received the report last night that Lundu had apparently choked to death at his house in Morningside in Durban.

He said the reports indicated that he was eating something while lying down in his bed and began to choke and he was heard trying to cough.

Apparently the food could not be dislodged from his windpipe and he died.

Mr. Mwamba said the death was tragic as there were no earlier reports of Lundu being sick.

He said Lundu is reported to have had a fruitful day.

He said other details regarding the funeral will be released later after consultation with the family.

This is according to a statement issued by First Secretary Press and Public Relations at the Zambia High Commission In Pretoria Naomi Nyawali.

    • Chocking is bad, especially when alone. Sounds Lundu was home alone.
That’s a painful way of dying. I remember a man chocking on a fish-born back in village, for hours. They made him to commit, nothing. And the trip to hospital of 10 km on biscycles was longest ever.
Each villager almost hard remead but nothing nothing.
      He survived at hospital.
Now I renew my Red Cross first aid training.

    • This is very sad. Please everyone don’t eat while lying down—especially amabonzo ya nkoko—it’s not only a bad habit but an aspiration risk. RIP.

    • @Nostradamus:- Lundu was not alone; read the extract below:
“He said the reports indicated that he was eating something while lying down in his bed and began to choke and he was heard trying to cough”.

HE WAS HEARD TRYING TO COUGH. IT MEANS WHOEVER WAS IN THE HOUSE HEARD THE COUGH AND THOUGHT IT WAS ONE OF THOSE USUAL COUGHS WE ALL HAVE ONCE IN A WHILE.

    • There must have been someone in the house who heard him cough. Who was this one and why was he eating in bed? What food was he eating? What time of the day was it? Who found him dead? Who reported to the police? There are more questions than answers to this. Lets not take at face value .

    • @General naimwe mulekwatako deep thinking. Maybe you never died before. That is a strong boy right there, he fought for his life. He was alone I can tell you that, am talking from experience.
Bushe imwe when you hear a neighbor coughing do you run to go and check? My woman like to sleep in other room because I spend too much time on this LT. If she coughs I don’t run there, But if itching on her back, she comes running ati scratch me here.. no noo down.. on side… ok right there!
Same with a chocking man, Lundu definitely didn’t die in bed. Maybe he died of head injuries banging on the wall.

    • My deepest condolescences to the Mazoka family. This is sad.

I hope to autopsy will confirm what’s in the report.

We all need to open our eyes wide open as many opposition members continue to die under mysterious circumstances.

I hope nothing fishy about all these deaths. Any way the truth eventually comes out.

    • HH has started eliminating potential challengers because of fear of handing over the seat of president

  1. You go to SA and start eating Kandolo while lying down. HH could have given the boy better things to do but we know what happens from all those that come out of UPND.

    • I feel sorry for Emmanuel and Naomi, they are not running an Embassy, but a funeral parlour. It’s weekly. They should ask for piece of land their for Zambian memorial Park cemetery.

    • @Nostradamus it is a very good business idea to go and open a funeral home in SA for preparing bodies specifically for Zambians and have Emmanuel and Naomi as Business Partners.

    • I don’t think we should joke about a person’s death. The Americans may do it but Africans observe certain good behavior at the death of anyone

  2. This World is cruel. We are used to people dying of hunger and not dying of food. Particularly a snack.

    • imagine @chitapankwa its quite annoying seeing someone dying of plenty of food when some people in cowthern province are dying of hunger due to drought

  3. I think ( kci) you can do better than what you have just commented, some one has lost a son, brother, nephew etc, shame on you.

  4. let us give gratitude to our departed colleagues just as we would love to be respected upon our death . Never ever make a mockery over death irrespective of the underlining cause. You never know your death may be more disastrous than the one at hand .Stay blessed and may his soul rest in internal peace .

    • Kafwimbi I like your mature response. During the days of humanism in Zambia, people sounded a lot like you. For young Mazoka we wish his family peace and healing

  5. Comment:So sad Lundu my brother. I hope he had quit the gay lifestyle before being called by his maker

    • Muntu wapa Zed, your mind is imprisoned with thinking that if you say Lord this and that you are better than the boy you suspect to have been gay will get you to an imaginary heaven, you are mistaken. Your daily sins can not better substitute

  6. We should be listening to health experts. Eating in a sleeping position is strongly not advisable. Deepest condolences to the bereaved family

  7. Condolences Lundu. Poor reporting no indication of age and why he was in Durban. Nyawali can do better

    • @Vanda: – What more info do you want??? The statement says “choked to death at his house in Morningside in Durban.”
It means he was a resident of Durban RSA. You want people to start disclosing personal confidential information??? e.g. that He had so many companies in RSA, He borrowed so much money from banks, He left so much money in his account etc., etc.

  8. These are the guys that have fled our beautiful country and only to go live in diaspora as slaves and keep talking ill about Zambia, God doesnt like such and if you are in the habit of talking ill of your country in the foreign land, the ending is usually very sudden and pathetic.

    • With no sympathy and with so much envy and hurt, Malinso you are a rotten thug. Even if you live 90 years your miserable life will never be as fulfilling as what this young man has had in less than 40 years.

    • We must never speak ill of our enemies, God forbids.
In a situation like this our shared sorrow is pleasing to the Lord. God loves us to show capability to love one another especially at an end of a battle. The reality is this could be anyone.

May God forgive you and grant you grace for a childlike error.

  9. @Mwape hmmm. I will argue …. if people stop being straight, u would not be here bro. Not even in UK. It’s very true.

  10. RIP my brother no one has come on this earth to stay. So sad we all have one life tomorrow it will be us. Zambians should go back to their culture of respecting the dead.

  11. Sorry indeed for the family of Mazoka.

Comrade HH has lost a brother. word of condolences.

    M.H.S.R.I.P

  12. Condolences to his family, especially his sister and mother. God receive him Into his peaceful light and sleep. May God comfort his family. This is very sad, but the good die young. His called back to heaven for a special reason. Celebrate his life.

    • Only yesterday, I bought a poster that said, a short life is not the the focal point in considering the length of a life of our loved one. But that the JOY and HAPPINESS and QUALITY of their life is more important. And to the family, I would say, is this son of yours not had a good life thus far? He looks like he had in comparison to poor ordinary ZAMBIANS. So celebrate that quality and the gift God granted him to be born a Mazoka. He had purpose inbuilt. His with his dad in peace.

  13. Too bad, lesson to learn is that laziness is lethal . Dont be too lazy for everything if eating if accompanied by
    laziness u will surely die

  14. The guy was gay, and the reporter says he was eating something whilst laying down. Meaning there must have been a second person who witnessed he was laying down.

  15. There is more to this story. This guy was full blown Gay. Gay folks can be crazy with insane experiments! The police should investigate this case. Whoever he was with might have been pushing something under his throat. Anyway MHSRIP

  16. Rip.but something shud be done to ascertain the cause of this young and vibrant man,s death.it sounds mysterious.

  17. Widely penns to each one of us for the big loss of our fellow youth. may his saw lest in peace and my sincere condolence to our great family of mazoka.(my brother lundu may his soul rest in peace)

  18. Sad. We do not know how we will go but bottom line is we will go. Others die in their sleep, others accidents and so on. We are visitors on this earth.

  19. My condolences, very sad indeed.the death process was painful just think of it don’t make funnies, death has no road map.It might be simple by the term (chock) but it was an accindent not his fault. So as we comment let’s release that someone has lost life. THANKS
