HH urges MPs to Reject Bill 10

Share

UPND President Hakainde Hichilema has urged all members of parliament to reject what he described as the PF engineered Bill 10 when it is presented before the House today, 29th October 2020.

In a televised message yesterday afternoon, Hichilema stated that UPND members of parliament will still stand by their earlier position of rejecting the Bill as it does not carry the aspirations of the people of Zambia.

He has also appealed to the PF, NDC and Independent Members of Parliament to reject the Bill which seeks to among other things, grant more powers to a sitting Head of State.

And the UPND President is confident that the Bill will fall out because Zambians have vehemently rejected it adding that members of parliament must also stand on the right side of history by listening to people’s calls of doing away with the Bill outrightly.

And the UPND President has said that instead of wasting the country’s scarce resources on a Bill that only stands to benefit a few in the PF, national resources must now be channelled towards ensuring that the economy is up and running and citizens have jobs, affordable health care, cheaper food and lower cost of living.

  2. We are baffled as to why lungu is trying to force this bill through amidst the multitudes of problems Zambians face ………

Will this bill reduce the debt , inflation or increase GDP or employment ?

  3. Bill 10 must be defeated at all cost. It does not benefit Zambians, but greed people. It won’t even benefit 1% of PF members.

  4. I think the problem the people of Zambia are facing is that those that are opposing the bill are not coming out specifically to give reasons with some backing clauses in the bill why the bill is bad. They just say the boll is bad. Can you give reasons why the bill is bad. They say it will give the President excessive powers but they are not pinpointing how this is going to be so. On the hand, those that are advocating for the bill have given several reasons why the bill is good by citing examples that are extracted from the bill and the same example have eventually convinced many stakeholders such their royal hynesses who are convinced that this piece of legislation is superb.

    • Be attentive. people have been raising the negatives in the bill for a long time now. due to space I cant itemize them here. Also note that the bill clears the issue of somebody having been sworn twice and not eligible to stand, the bill takes care of that part hence the push from PF, in short the bill is all about that

  5. Bill 10 must be supported by all MPs. It is the best Constitution Zambia has ever had since independence in1964. Let’s not miss this opportunity. Some people are opposing it simply because they boycotted the deliberations and now they are regretting. It is not true that Bill 10 gives excessive powers to the head of state because no one will be in state house for ever. We have elections every 5 years. So all MPs, pf, upnd, mmd, fdd and independents should vote for Bill 10. For a change, let’s unite behind Bill 10. Our future lies in Bill 10.

  6. It’s the blind led by the blind using Mukuni’s compass. Looks like he has no reason to reject the bill apart from pride and his followers are busy following like zombies.
He is never specific, he rejected the referendum but complains about the public order act, nobody knows what he intend to do for Zambia once in power not even his wife, nobody can explain how he became rich not even himself and now he doesn’t know why he is rejecting the bill. Shame on his zombic followers antony bwalya.

  8. But why can’t this oval headed twit cite the exact clauses in detail which will give the president more power??? He thinks he’s the most intelligent Zambian who can just direct everyone to carryout his wishes. In reality, he’s the real chimbwi with no plan who has no solid strategy and agenda for this country and Zambians can see through him.

  9. Zambian Citizen, up to now you have not seen, read or heard the arguments advanced by so many people and organisations against Bill 10? Why should people waste their time repeating the negative consequences of Bill 10 to Zambia to narrow minded people? For now we expect well meaning MPS to reject Bill 10.

  10. @Ngoma: I have read bill 10 myself and understood it. There’s no clause that seems to increase the president’s powers. I don’t need this upnd i.d.!ot above or those CSOs to tell me what I have read. Maybe you can enlighten us on that “super” clause only you and these opposition supporters can see??? (…and I very much doubt that!!!!)

  11. Iwe chi Zambian citizen first of all, you can give your contribution without insulting anyone. Secondly, coming to the bill, maybe its good and maybe it isn’t. The ssuspicious thing here is why the urgency of passing this bill. What is so important. The economy is dead, dollar is high, loadshedding is crazy than there is covid to controll. There are more important matters that needs to be taken care of for the people at the moment. Elections are less than 1 year away…. so what is it in this bill that is so important that cannot wait until after elections? You tell me.

    • We have already spent a lot of money on Bill 10. All that remains now is to vote. This vote will cost nothing. But to start this process all over again after elections will be very costly and time consuming. We cannot afford to wait for anyone. Those who boycotted the process should just swallow their pride and join the band wagon. We have other things to do.

  12. MP Mweetwa and professor ndulo and shushuwa have been posting articles on LT why bill 10 is poison , when they do , none of the of PF rats appear from their holes to debate , the rats take cover……

After a few months you see the rats like Antonio Mwanza AKA Zambian citizen yapping that no one is explaining why bill 10 is bad thinking we have shot memories

Noooo , we remember why bill 10 is bad

  13. @Zambian Citizen…therein lies the problem! Oval Head can’t come out clean on what the bad clauses are! All he has is a 10 point plan (whatever that crap is!) to run the country. This idyat is a worse than Mulyokela and Chama Chakomboka combined!

  15. Zambian citizen, I didnt question your reading of your preferred Bill 10. My comment are still “up to now you have not seen, read or heard the arguments advanced by so many people and organisations against Bill 10? Why should people waste their time repeating the negative consequences of Bill 10 to Zambia to narrow minded people? For now we expect well meaning MPS to reject Bill 10”. So if you dont agree with the arguments advanced by those against Bill 10, you are entitled to your own opinion. I just say at this late hour, people against Bill 10 will not waste their time explaining to you why Bill 10 should be rejected. My opinion remains that I expect well meaning MPs to reject Bill 10.

  16. HH was rehected 5 times . Who can take him seriously on bill 10? Not even his own MPs will. PF has10 opposition MPs on its side to pass bill 10. Some of them are big wigs in UPND and includes Garry , Syakalima and Kangombe. Watch the space.

” The f00l that has never held public office, never been to parliament and never will. Enough said ”

Lungu has held many high profile public officers , show us what he has done apart from using borrowed money to build , which he has even failed to pay back ??????

  19. It is not just HH who has rejected Bill 10. How and when did PF get 10 opposition MPs on the side of voting for Bill 10? Decent Zambians should not accept a constitution adopted through bribing a few opposition MPs. A constitution is the law of the land and should not be approved through bribes.

  20. @Ngoma: As I have mentioned above, you can’t even pinpoint 1 bad clause but just because the oval headed twit above says it’s bad, you also say it’s bad-that’s why I call you donkeys. You can’t even use your heads to think.
@Wako: All a call say to you is “waba I.b.olo!!” You are not worth my time….

  21. Zambian citizen and myself are simply asking you angry upnd diasporans to list all the bad clauses in bill 10 and explain to us why that particular is detrimental to zambians. We give you until the end of today. We are waiting. Failure to which you are just a bunch of tribally charged hyenas

  22. LUBINDA TO WITHDRAW BILL 10
We are currently in a heated meeting where PF’s evil plans seems to have reached a dead end as they now plan to withdraw the rejected Bill 10 from Parliament.
Lungu is bitter with Justice Minister Given Lubinda whom he believes he has failed to organize the required numbers despite receiving huge funds from PF supporters.

PF now needs to have 8 MPs to pass Bill 10. This follows the 5 Luapula United MPs and one PF lawmaker from Eastern Province who have all decided not to support Bill 10.
When the Bill was defered last time, PF was short of 2 MPs but now the number has risen to 8 following infights within the ruling party as some MPs feel Lungu just wants to use them for Bill 10 and discard them after Bill 10 passes.
The meeting is now considering that…

  23. koswe ni koswe, wen supporting useless things of your future not only what you will be given by a politician just for a day. If God You Are Happy The Way We Are Being Treated By Politicians In Zambia Leave It Like This If Not Give Us The Right Way To Overcome This Worstiest Living We Are In.

  24. if God is happy watching his innoncent childrens suffering let it pass and ruled with hatred ! if He is not happy it won’t pass and a caring person will rule zambia.
    GOD’S MERCY TO WORK.

  25. Zambian citizen, there have been numerous reasons given by people and organisations opposed to Bill 10. It is not my fault that you and KZ decided not to hear, see or read about these reasons. My point is that at this late hour, I will not waste my time repeating the numerous reasons for rejecting Bill 10. It is not my responsibility to repeat the reasons advanced by those opposed to Bill 10 for you. If you think so many people and organisations are opposed to Bill 10 without any reasons, suit your egos! Dont just read, but analyse the implications beyond the written words.

  26. Your Excellency HH Sir, Happy to report that your instructions were followed to the later. No bill 10 anymore. The former political advisor just misled his former boss as usual

  27. @Zambian Citizen and a host of other PF bootlickers don’t usually read – and when they are forced to, don’t analyze. The Bill has been taken apart so many times here. I read and presented my thoughts a couple of times on this blog – specifically pointing out the contentious clauses. It is a fact that it also actually entails more power for the executive President when they need to be trimmed.
But those who defend the indefensible will always choose to bury their heads in the sand and show their ignorance by continuously accusing others of not understanding the Bill – when they themselves have not analyzed it but will support by way of being blind followers

  28. @KZ, have you been to parliament? Have you held the real public office? Not Lungu’s advisor that is private office for Chagwa and lab technician doesn’t count!

  29. Kamwi you don’t see me telling pf members to abscond from parliamentary duties for political reasons. You and that f00l hh need to grow up

  30. This guy with a humongous nose that covers his entire face, can you just shut up for once. You are supposed to be working instead of spending all the blogging. Your time of reckoning is coming and will be hurted were ever you try to hide.
