Chamber of mines applauds government for ending load shedding

The Zambia Chamber of Mines have commended government through the Ministry for quickly ending load shedding.

Zambia Chamber of Mines President, Godwin Beene said the prompt and Frank manner in which the recently experienced electricity supply challenge was handled was impressive and has further expressed gratitude to the Republican President Hakainde Hichilema for ending the load limitation measures for the mining sector on schedule.

In a letter addressed to Minister of Energy Peter Kapala dated 24th February, 2023, Dr. Mweene said the Chamber of Mines is grateful that they were consulted on the matter and hoped that existing bottlenecks in the sector could soon be resolved to attract more investors in the sector.

In December last year, ZESCO limited announced the commencement of load shedding owing to the low water levels in the Kariba Dam for electricity generation and closure of Maamba Coal Mines for maintenance.

The situation has since normalized and load shedding officially ended in February 2023.

  1. Why applaud them? They started it by exporting and if it wasn’t for the pressure from the general population we would still be living in partial darkness. Anyway the name of the speaker says it all.

    • A man shoots a hole in the boat you are sing to cross the sea. He then gives you gum to plug the hole and when you reach the shore you thank him?

  2. They should have thanked them for ending it twice……and at least let’s thank them after three years with our politicians it’s too early to tell
