As the country prepares to commemorate National Youth Day on Sunday 12th March, the Patriotic Front has called on youths to participate in the march pasts that will take place across the country. The party has urged the youths to follow Covid-19 health guidelines, but turn-out in large numbers to mark the special day.

In a statement issued by Hon. Raphael Mangani Nakacinda, Chairperson of Information and Publicity and member of the Central Committee, the party recognized that there have been futile attempts to limit the participation of youths in the national day. Therefore, the youths are advised to ignore such calls and turn-out in large numbers as this is their official day that comes once in a year.

Zambia celebrates Youth Day every 12th March to remember the contribution of the nation’s youth to Zambian society. With 65% of the population under the age of 25, the country has a high percentage of young people. Unfortunately, many of them face huge challenges of unemployment, limited educational and skills opportunities, and poverty.

It is for this reason that the Patriotic Front believes that the commemoration should focus on proposing solutions that will help the youth overcome these economic and social challenges. The party is also concerned about the rise of vices such as drug and substance abuse, alcohol abuse, delinquency, and other vices affecting young people and derailing their productivity.

Therefore, the party has called on youths to maintain peace and order during the entire celebrations and processions. They have also encouraged the youths to focus on positive activities that will empower them and their communities.

The Patriotic Front has emphasized that youths should be in school, in training, in jobs, or in entrepreneurship. The party hopes that the commemoration of National Youth Day will serve as a catalyst for youth development and that the youths will take advantage of the opportunities available to them.

Issued by Hon. Raphael Mangani Nakacinda, Chairperson of Information and Publicity, and member of the Central Committee, Patriotic Front.

  1. This is how mature and patriotic we are in pf. During our rule, the gay upnd party shunned all national events due to jealousy and envy. They lack respect

  2. Methinks Nakacinda would make a great president. He must enter the race. We are tired of fat alberts like GBM, Kambwili, Sampa who have nothing to offer. They just want to steal. Manifesto ilikwisa bakabwalala imwe?

  3. It’s sad that the upnd cadres resorted to violence after being out numbered by the former ruling party. Yet some claim that new doom government is peaceful.
    It’s shameful
