PF Bans Early Presidential Campaigns, Cites Internal Disunity

The Patriotic Front (PF) has directed its members to stop all unauthorised presidential campaigns and endorsements, warning that such activities breach party rules and threaten internal cohesion.

PF Information and Publicity Chairperson Emmanuel Mwamba said in a statement that the party leadership was concerned by premature campaigns emerging after the death of former president Edgar Lungu.

“These acts amount to lawlessness and cause reputational damage. They create the perception of a party in disarray,” Mwamba said.

He reminded members that the PF remains guided by its constitution and the decisions of the Central Committee. “We are a structured organisation governed by rules and discipline,” he said, adding that the party was reorganising its leadership as part of a long-term recovery plan.

Mwamba disclosed that the Central Committee meeting held on October 6, chaired by acting party president Given Lubinda, resolved to prepare for a general conference. A committee was appointed to design campaign guidelines, determine the date, and set rules of engagement.

He explained that the leadership would soon release a roadmap for the conference, where a new president will be elected. The committee will also consider whether to allow additional aspirants beyond the nine who have already paid nomination fees of K200,000 each.

Mwamba emphasised that discipline and respect for procedure would remain the cornerstone of the PF’s rebuilding efforts. He accused unnamed individuals of exploiting social media to create confusion.

The statement marks the PF’s strongest attempt to restore order following internal turbulence and speculation about succession. Party insiders said the leadership was keen to avoid the appearance of factional rivalry as it navigates the transition period.

Political observers believe the PF’s focus on constitutional compliance and orderly succession could determine its survival ahead of the 2026 elections.

  1. In my opinion Edgar Lungu destroyed PF by not mentoring and grooming atleast three or so people younger than him to succeed him they way Michael Sata helped him to grow politically. Instead, Lungu at 65 years of age in 2021, chose 70 year old Proffessor Nkandu Luo as a running mate, a woman who was clearly older than Lungu and she was heavily disliked by the party and the public. Lungu had younger teachable and groom-able options within the PF such as Miles Sampa, Edify Hamukale, Vincent Mwale, Dora Siliya etc to succeed him but chose a misfit in Nkandu Luo. PF could have been strong even now. Where was Madam Inonge Wina to help Lungu give Zambia a Future president? you are paying the Price in PF

  2. This the same explanation they to pave way for Lungu to return untill Sampa took the PF by fraud. Now,they are prepping for Mudolo while the current President is still alive.PF swine will never learn
