President Hakainde Hichilema says the church should continue to preach and spearhead messages of love, unity and tolerance.
The media reports that the President said this when he joined hundreds of congregants for the Sunday church service at the Evangelical Church in Ndeke Township this afternoon.
President Hichilema said the country will only embrace love, unity and tolerance if they have strong family values.
He said values of love, unity and respect needed to be developed and inculcated at family level.
“The church must continue to preach love, unity, respect and tolerance. We must learn to accommodate each other. Family values of love and respect towards each other are cardinal for us. We should raise our children in Christian manner,” he said.
And in his statement of purpose, Pastor Geshorm Kabulwe revealed that the church was in full support of the Constitution Amendment process that was currently underway.
“We want to openly and categorically state that as a church we are in full support of the Constitution Amendment process, which is currently underway. To that effect we urge all groups with contrary views to reconsider their position and look into what is in the best interest of the Nation,” he said.
The Resident Pastor further appealed to the Electoral Commission of Zambia to consider extending the Voter registration period which will be coming to an end on November 11, 2025.
The Pastor further commended President Hichilema for exhibiting good quality leadership.
“Mr President, God values leadership and in you Zambia has received its gift of quality leadership from God. Zambians must learn to appreciate you. It is amazing how you have managed to stop the violence and cadreism with just your words,” he said.
The Pastor further advised the President to concentrate on his good developmental policies and not pay attention to people with negativity.
“Concentrate on your good policies, do not listen to people that specialise in only seeing negatives, do not focus on them,” he advised.
And speaking earlier, Copperbelt Provincial Minister, Elisha Matambo revealed that President Hichilema donated funds towards the completion of the church building at Ndeke Evangelical Church.
The Provincial Minister once more thanked the President for re-opening the Israeli embassy in Zambia, saying it was an opening of blessings for Zambia.
And in his vote of thanks, Reverend Allan Kasungami commended the President for financially supporting the Ndeke local church, as well as contributing towards the purchasing of the pastor’s vehicle.
“We thank you for supporting our local church financially and also for monies donated towards the purchase of our Pastor’s vehicle. God prepared you for 23 years for this leadership, so that he could raise you for such a time as this. Do not entertain illegality in this country,” he said.
President Hichilema is expected to return to Lusaka this evening.
