Southern Province Police Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo has confirmed a case of stock theft in which 115 goats valued at K60,000 were stolen from a farmer in Itezhi-Tezhi District.
Mr Namalongo said the theft was reported to Itezhi-Tezhi Police Station on January 17, 2026, at around 10:00 hours by Mr Humphrey Munapuma, aged 50, of Bachele Village under Chief Chikazamunyama.
He explained that the incident is believed to have occurred between the night of January 16, 2026, and the early hours of January 17, 2026.
According to Mr Namalongo, Mr Munapuma had secured his herd of goats in a kraal at around 18:00 hours on January 16 before heavy rains started later that evening.
“He later went to sleep, leaving the kraal intact, but unknown persons are suspected to have stolen the goats during the night,” Mr Namalongo said.
The Police Chief said the theft was discovered the following morning when Mr Munapuma went to check on his animals and found them missing.
Mr Namalongo said, “No arrests or recoveries have been made so far, and investigations into the matter are ongoing.”
