A one-year-two-month-old boy has died after a thatched house caught fire in Isoka District.
The incident happened on February 11, 2026, around 17:30 hours in Robert Village in the area of Chief Katyetye.
Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Denis Moola confirmed the tragedy, saying the matter was reported by Sandra Nambela, 23, who called police to inform them that her home had burned to the ground. She also reported that her son, Musa Ngambi, aged one year and two months, who had been left asleep inside the house, died in the fire.
Police officers visited the scene on February 12, 2026, at about 10:40 hours. According to the commissioner, officers found the child’s body inside the burnt structure, lying face down and severely burned. The house was completely destroyed by the blaze.
The body was later collected and handed over to family members for burial.
Mr. Moola said no foul play is suspected at this stage, and an inquiry has been opened to determine the cause of the fire. Investigations are ongoing.
