Soccer fans in Lusaka have expressed joy and renewed hope following the Copper Queens’ convincing 3-nil victory over Botswana yesterday at the ongoing COSAFA Women’s Championship in South Africa.
In an interview with ZANIS, Michael Mwanza described the performance as impressive and encouraging, noting that the players’ collective effort, unity and determination on the pitch produced the intended results and demonstrated the strength of teamwork in achieving success.
Choolwe Hiabalu said the win has boosted confidence among Zambians, adding that the players showed great coordination and hunger for success on the regional stage.
Meanwhile, the soccer fans have pledged full support ahead of the upcoming match between Zambia and Zimbabwe slated for Sunday, February 22, 2026, noting that although it is expected to be a tough encounter, Zambia has what it takes to secure victory through determination and teamwork.
And, Sports Analyst, Mwila Mwaba, has thanked the players for the team spirit and effort they put into the match, stating that such commitment and unity on the field are what produce positive and commendable results.
Mwaba says the team needs to maintain the same level of performance, continue scoring goals and securing victories, as this will further boost the players’ confidence and strengthen their chances in the competition.
He further stressed that the next game against Zimbabwe will be a tougher test compared to the previous match, stressing that the team will need to remain focused and disciplined to secure another positive result.
Mwaba also emphasised the need for cohesion, coordination and unity among the players on the pitch in order to secure victory in the upcoming match.
