The incident occurred around 06:00 hours between Luumba Moonya signpost and Makoye Bridge as the animals were being taken to a nearby dip tank.
Approximately 15 cattle were struck by a truck transporting pipes for a drilling company. Ten of the animals died on the spot, while five sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment.
The cattle owner, Alex Mainza, confirmed the incident in an interview with the media, stating that the driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. He was later apprehended in Gwembe Township and is currently detained at Chisekesi Police.
Mainza described the loss as devastating, noting that the cattle were his primary source of livelihood and supported his children’s education. He has appealed to well-wishers for assistance.
A Chisekesi resident, Mazuba Mutwe, expressed concern over the incident and questioned how the driver struck all the animals in an open area. He called on motorists to exercise caution, particularly in areas where livestock frequently cross roads.
Police had not issued an official statement on the incident at the time of reporting.

Very fishy. One vehicle killing 15 animals? If you are driving and you hit one cow you are bound to stop. Was this driver very very drunk? Or Very possessed?
