Kasempa District administration has hailed the establishment of an Anti-Corruption Commission office in the district as a major step toward strengthening transparency, accountability and public service delivery at local level.
District Commissioner Benson Malipenga urged public workers to uphold integrity and actively support efforts aimed at combating corruption in the district.
Mr Malipenga said this during an Anti-Corruption Commission sensitisation meeting held in Kasempa.
“Corruption undermines development and deprives our communities of the services and opportunities they deserve,” Mr Malipenga said.
“As public officers, we have a duty to uphold integrity, transparency and accountability in the discharge of our responsibilities,” He added.
Mr Malipenga described the opening of the ACC office in Kasempa as a significant milestone that would bring anti-corruption services closer to the people.
“The opening of the ACC office in Kasempa is a significant milestone. It will bring anti-corruption services closer to our people and strengthen the fight against corruption in our district,” he said.
Mr Malipenga further urged participants to take the sensitization meeting seriously and apply the knowledge gained in their daily work.
“I therefore urge all participants to take this meeting seriously, actively engage with the facilitators and apply the knowledge gained in your daily work,” he said.
