Zambia coach George Lwandamina has hailed his team for picking up a vital away win in Kenya.
Zambia rallied to beat hosts Kenya 2-1 on Sunday to ignite their 2017 Africa Cup Group E qualifying chase.
“It was a good victory, it was not an easy game playing away from home and most of our boys are new in the team but it is great that they withstood the pressure,” Lwandamina said.
Zambia came from behind with goals from Winston Kalengo in the 31st minute and Collins Mbesuma ten minutes later after Michael Olunga put Kenya ahead in the 12th minute.
The result saw Zambia go second but tied with leaders Congo-Brazzaville on 4 points who top Group E on goal difference after two rounds of matches played.
Zambia resume their qualifying campaign next March with a doubleheader against Congo-Brazzaville during the week of March 23.
It was sweet victory, but please get Mweene to use his experience to be a stable goal keeper not that excitement that allowed Kenya an early goal. The coming back into the game through a goal by Kalengo and then the sealing of Kenya’s fate with a second goal was fantastic!
