Lwandamina salutes CHAN qualification

Zambia coach George Lwandamina is hoping things will only get better for his team now that they have qualified to the 2016 CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals.

Chipolopolo drew 1-1 away to Mozambique on Sunday to qualify to the CHAN finals 4-1 on aggregate.

It is the first time since 2009 that Zambia has qualified to the second tier Africa cup tournament exclusively for home-based national team players.

“We have gone one step ahead and we hope we will be able to do well as we go to Rwanda,” Lwandamina said.

“We have a very good team and the boys are doing well.

“All we need is to prepare well and give them enough exposure because some of the boys in the team are new at this level.”

Zambia will know their preliminary round group stage opponents when teh draws are made in Kigali on November 18.

Rwanda will host the 4th edition of the CHAN tournament from January 16 to February 7.
