MMD leader Nevers Mumba has explained that the MMD is not entering into an alliance with the PF in order for him to be President Edgar Lungu’s running mate.
Dr Mumba said even discussing around the issue of the running mate if the MMD and the PF agrees to enter into an alliance is premature because there is currently no alliance to talk about.
He said he is approaching the 2016 elections as a presidential candidate and not as somebody’s running mate.
Dr Mumba also stated that he is not interested in agreeing to the alliance for personal reasons but that the move was sanctioned by the MMD National Executive Committee.
He said the MMD should not be treated in a lesser manner if the proposed alliance is to work.
The MMD leader was speaking last night when he featured on ZNBC TV’s Sunday Interview radio programme.
“How can I demand that I be made running mate as if I am the one who called for the alliance? I am not the one who called for this so how can I go into it for personal reasons. MMD has never initiated an alliance,” Dr Mumba said.
He said he is not affected by President Lungu’s announcement that he will go for a female as his running mate.
Dr Mumba said he is not affected because the PF and the MMD are not in an alliance yet.
He said the issue of running mate will only be discussed when an agreement to govern the alliance is signed.
Dr Mumba also revealed that UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema approached him last year over the possibilities of entering into an alliance for the 2016 elections.
He however disclosed that the two with the UPND leader did not progress and the proposal was never tabled at a NEC meeting.
Dr Mumba also revealed that the MMD will open its adoption process of members wishing to contest for parliamentary seats on the party ticket on March 1st 2016.
With or without an alliance, PF is carrying the day.
Nevers Mumba, we know your target. You want to give away the MMD to Edgar so that you have a job as Ambassador. That will never happen because Edgar himself has no job beyond August 11th 2016. You ditched your church, ditched your National Christian Coalition party for a few pieces of silver after Mwanawasa called you and later booted you out of his govt. Now you’re sending the MMD in the same direction out of your selfish motives. Leave the MMD to those who still think they can resurrect it instead of dragging it to its early grave along with the PF. Edgar Lungu has scored again against MMD as he has made Nevers Mumba look st$p#d in the eyes of MMd members. He made him get excited by dangling the veep carrot just like he did to Felix Mutati and once they got excited he moves on. EL is quite cunny/ tricky I didn’t know. He is busy eliminating his opponents. Only HH-GBM combination is lethal and indivisible.

Dr Mumba you are truly confused between selling the cake and eating yourself. Chances at this rate you going are that you will neither eat or sell the cake. In other words you will be the top loser. Nevers is consistently inconsistent. He is not a factor politically and he knows it. He wants to ride on other people’s backs. MMD is no more and they will be lucky to have one seat in parliament after the general elections.

Here is what I think will happen with this one sided Alliance.
1. Dr Mumba will give PF the numbers they require.
2. PF still wont win with quarter MMD support as many MMD members will still vote for other parties their choice.
3. Dr Mumba will literally remain in the cold. His remaining MMD supporters will kick him out for this miss-judgment.
4. This move by Dr Mumba has just sealed MMD’s fate just like what happened to UNIP.

Principles Dr. Mumba, especially from you who claims to be a preacher: How do you reconcile going into an alliance with a party that you claimed to be very corrupt and incompetent to run the Zambian economy and the same party also counter claimed your party was also too corrupt? In fact, as it has turned out, both PF and MMD have been extremely corrupt parties. The only difference is that PF has combined corruption with high levels of incompetence!
The time to make up your mind is now. You most certainly will be riding on a PF ticket and therefore must agree to tertiary roles. As for approaching the elections as a Presidential contender, I think you know that is not possible for MMD on its own.

It is an open secret to all well meaning zambians that PF and Lungu are headed for a victory beyond 2016.Only a few unrealistic ones think otherwise and they are entitled to their opinion.We cant afford to do experiments and give this great nation to people without experience of how government runs.Managing animals at a personal farm and running a country are two different issues which should be mixed and misunderstood.Changing govt unnecessarily will cost this country dearly and there are no such indicators to warrant such madness.
Zambians should not change leadership like underwear.Change of leadership has cost this nation dearly because each leader that comes in,brings with him new ideas which can be progressive or retrogressive.The case in study is change of governance from UNIP to MMD.UNIP believed in a government that had respect for government resources while MMD had no respect for national resources.In short,MMD had bankruptcy in morals.Mwanawasa tried to emulate the leadership style of UNIP,unfortunately a cold hand of death took him.I do not think change of leadership is the best way to solve our problems.These leaders are all the same and they come with different ideologies of running the nation.
Elections are not won on social media.The difference between the winner and the loser is determined in a ballot box.No matter the insults on social media,the outcome will be known on 11 August.Most of the losers will have a scapegoat that elections were rigged.Being over confident,will make others cry and sob.Voters are queer people sometimes.They will purpot to be in your camp but they do not even mean it.Insults on social media do not mean anything.The real battle is out there.
A Zambian voter does not change govt unneccessariry, those of us who have been around for some time will attest to this, no matter how bad things may seem to be, we still understand the global economical challenges many countries are going through, so even if HH is voted for he wont come and change things overnight or put food on my table.
