Muchinga Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, has confirmed the development to the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Mpika today.
Mr Daka said the incident took place between February 26 at 17:00hrs and February 29, 2016 at 06:00 hrs.
And according to Gladys Sampa of Cassanova Compound, a clerk of Mpika magistrate’s court, unknown persons broke into the court room and stole cannabis bags that were used as exhibits and were due for disposal by way of burning them.
Mr Daka highlighted that Ms Sampa reported the matter to the police on Monday, March 7, 2016, at 14:00hrs and strongly suspected some officers whose names have been withheld.
He disclosed that the three bags of cannabis whose weight and value were unknown were property of the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC).
He added that investigations into the theft have since been launched and no arrests have been made so far.

Just legalize it, quit acting like weed is that bad. People drink beer and drive reckless thereby killing innocent people, but when people smoke week they feel Irie and have righteous thoughts. Weed cures a lot of diseases too. When I was growing up there in Zambia, I was made to believe that weed was bad, but it is not. Just don’t it control you. Hot girls like niggaz that smoke, so its a win win situation.
