Zanaco beat Harare City in Confed Cup

Zanaco beat hosts Harare City in their Confederation Cup first round, first leg match at Rufaro Stadium to mark a great day of Zambian clubs in continental club cup football this weekend.

Mumamba Numba’s side beat Harare City 2-1 in their debut visit in continental competition to Zimbabwe.

Aubrey Funga headed-in Zanaco’s first to hand them a 1-0 halftime lead with a goal in the 35th minute.

Roderick Kabwe then fired in freekick in the 83rd minute before Tanaka Ruzvidzo scored Harare City’s consolation in the 87th minute.

The two sides meet in the final leg on March 19 at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

Zanaco joined their compatriots Zesco United who also won on Saturday with a 4-1 home win over Horoya AC of Guinea in CAF Champions League first round, first leg match in Ndola.
