Shinde salutes Nkana for honouring Moses Simwala

Share

Nkana legend Jericho Shinde has saluted his old club for naming their refurbished camp house after their late legendary coach Moses Simwala.

Nkana at the weekend commissioned the Moses Simwala Camp House located in Nkana West.

The ex-Zambia winger coached Nkana to winning eight (8) league titles between 1982 and 1992.

In an interview in Kitwe, Shinde said Simwala who died in 1993 deserves to be honoured.

“Kudos to Nkana Football Club for naming that camp house after Simwala. In fact this is long overdue,” Shinde said.

“They should have honoured him when he was alive. Any way let them also look after his wife Rhoda, she is still alive,” he said.

Simwala played for Nkana from 1966 to 1980 when he was appointed coach.

  1. One of the greatest wingers Zambia has ever known. Fast as a kavuluvulu he could dribble as well. Simwala was usually partnered on the wings by Brighton Sinyangwe. These two wingers caused havoc in continental football. As a coach he took Nkana to the finals of the club championship twice

  2. I dont know if this is overrating, but for me the best Zambian coach ever…one club 8 league championships. Shimwala was a great coach

  3. Aaaaah Moses “Chairman’ Simwala or simply ‘Ba Moze” awe we had talent those many years back..and as a coach his understanding of the lads and the game was impeccable…I recall at Independence Stadium (now renamed Heroes Stadium) Nkana was under-seize from Kabwe Warriors in a cup final two quick goals ‘teacher’ running riot on the wings…the rain saved Kalampa…in the replay total transformation it was like watching two magicians at work. Warriors carried the day but what a game makes one salivate…

    • @ Ellen – Just a little correction, Independence Stadium and Heroes Stadium are two different stadia. They located adjacent to each other, but still two different places. That said, I agree with your comments about “Ba Moze!!!!”

  4. And during the repaly, we were shouting 4-2, 4-2, because it was 2-1 in the abandoned game and 2-1 agin in the replay; that was Walyanganga-walyankuku at its best!

    • And I remember the following year at Nkana stadium in the then heroes and Unity cup final Nkana vs kabwe warriors at their own ground and the results were warrios 3 Nkana 1 what a game it was.

  5. The legendary Dennis Liwewe nick named the duo (Moses Simwala 7) and Brighton Sinyangwe (11) as “Natural Wingers!”

  6. Ba Jericho Shinde was “Russian Tanker,” Ba Benard Chanda was “Bomber” and Ba Emmanuel Mwape was “Mannix!”

  7. nkana vs kabwe warriors: one of the greatest rivalries in zambian football. evokes vivid memories. with the likes of simwala, sinyangwe here and ‘ucar’ chitalu, ‘chitapo cimo’ simutowe the other side, made the whole spectacle insatiable

  8. And that time the club was called Rhokana United.Great was Rhonkana united to watch against Mufulira Wanderers who had the likes of Dickson makwaza, Lement Kapembwe, the Nkole Brothers-Abraham in goal then Edward and Patrick.Brave Nchanga Rangers had the likes of Moffat Mutambo,Jimmy Salimu, Willie Phiri and Kaunda in goal.At Mufulira Blackpool there was the likes of John Fuso Lengwe,Kaushi Kaodi. At Ndola United there was KK-Kaiser Kalambo,Burton Mugala,Edwin Mbaso and Chimbalasempa in goal.Green Buffaloes had the likes of Dickson Chama,Pele Kaimana,Obby Kapita, Francis Kajiya,Kapela Katumba, former Buchi boys player Binwell Chibwe from Buchi township,Jani Simulambo master of the midfield and the goal keeper was chomba. At ZAF now Red Arrows I remember the likes of Tools and Hardware-Benard…
