ALL is set for the 50th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair that opens tomorrow with both international and regional companies expected to exhibit.

The Trade Fair will be officially opened by Zambian President Rupiah Banda on April 30.

Addressing the stakeholders meeting Minister Misihairabwi-Mushonga said Zambia was elated by the decision to invite President Banda.

“The Zambian President, Honourable Rupiah Banda will be our official guest of honour at this year’s international exhibition,” she said.

She urged stakeholders to tap into the positive atmosphere that has been generated by the all-inclusive Government and has seen a number of positive developments accruing.

This year’s exhibition will run from tomorrow to May 2 and is being held under the theme, “Golden opportunity for dynamic takeoff”.

ZITF is the largest regional trade fair south of the Sahara and offers exposure to both trade and public visitors.

The multi-sectoral fair also provides the largest, most convenient trade venue in the region

Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai is expected to officially open the annual international business conference that runs concurrently with ZITF.

The conference, organised by the ZITF Company and the National Economic Consultative Forum will be held under the theme “Facilitating Business as the Engine of Growth in the Reconstruction of the Zimbabwean Economy”.

“In light of recent developments in the political and economic spheres, this year’s conference will focus on the following objectives: the future Economic Road Map for Zimbabwe, the reconstruction of the economy and integration into the international arena, confidence and image building and Integration into the International Arena,” a ZITF official said.

Finance Minister Tendai Biti is set to address the business conference on the topic “The Zimbabwean Economic outlook: Achieving Stability in a recovering economy.”

A number of African countries that include Zambia, Namibia, Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Mozambique and Tanzania have already confirmed participation.

The Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority has given assurance that the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair and its surroundings would not be affected by load shedding during the days of the exhibition to ensure the smooth running of the event. Yesterday a number of companies were putting final touches to their exhibition stands in readiness for the kick off.

  1. Whether Zim invite Atate bake Temwani or not, the fact still remains: We have no money to give them! Muti nyengelela! Tatwamipele impiya. No ways!

  2. Bikeni bola panshi. Twaliilaka sana apa pakati so ninshila yakuti tutampe ukumfwana nakabili. Pantu if we let the situation go as it is tukalyapofyefyani ngabatutubuka. So, muchiling’e fye.

  3. I wonder if LPM (MHSRIP) wud have been invited, anyway wont say much coz birds of the same feathers flock together-both Bob n RB niwamuyaya….

  4. Yaba. This birth of President RB Banda in Zimbabwe is bringing trouble everyday to the Zambian economy. Anyway, all the best to him and the Zambian group going to Zim. for the show.

  5. The behaviour of this man called RB is very suspicious. Less than one year since LPM died this man has decided to go to Zim. RB is a big liar who should not be trusted with what he said about continuity from what his predecessor was doing. I am not surprised anyway about accepting the invitation because Banda belives in pomp and splendour. He enjoys seeing people standing for him even when he has nothing sennsible to say. In addition he was born in Southern Rhodesia so he will be going to his home.

  6. Ala!Ala! Lekeni akabalange akanakashi kaiche nishi imwe, whoever can take over from RB now cannot change anything. There is no hope for Zambia.

  7. First of all its important to give Zimbabwe support and give the people hope. Zim is not just Mugabe. Secondly, what will they exhibit at the Trade Fair? hopefully not dictatorship, poverty and cholera

  8. I don’t know of a nation of so many complaining, whining, insulting, back stabbing, and sorry lot like the current generation of Zambians. It is such a disgrace. The only saving grace is that they still have an irrepressible sense of humour. If one were not cautious you would think, they support Sata until they insult him down to the dry cleaners. Zambians support no one. They only support what is called NOTHING.

  9. This trip is being sponsored by the Zim govt isn’t it? But he will also collect allowances from the Zambian govt and will burn Zambian Jet fuel to get there. After that he will visit his birth place in Gwanda and drink maheu. He he he he he!! Mean while Mulongoti and Teta, his two chola boys will also collect hefty pecks for yapping nonsense. They will tell to shut or else they will discipline you.

  10. AU is in essence a Dictator’s Trade Union. SADC is a sub-committee of the central committe of the DTU. RB is a member of the central committee of the sub-committee of the central committee of the DTU. We helped those zim chaps get their independence. How did they thank us? By saying things like “Zambia is a dirty place… I can never go there..” What makes you think this time around they will show appreciation? And I don’t mean Mugabe. I mean ordinary Zimbabweans. Any Zambian who ever visited Zim before total collapse can testify. You have seen how South Africans literally tried to smoke us out… Lets just take care of our own mess first. After all, Zim is still Bob, so its not like anything has changed enough to be called change…

  11. Zimbabwe is just copying the Zambian way of inviting a foreign head of state to official at such fairs. Yeah, you could be right bilateral gestures are not normally without strings attached

  12. He must carry his own food, toilet paper, medical team, vets (for a second opinion), bathing water, bafa, jik, dettol, and surgical gloves for handshakes… and we could save a bit of money if subsistence allowance is paid in zim dollars…
