Power start post-Chilumba era with win

Power Dynamos on Saturday begun life after the dismissal of coach Tenant Chilumba with a 1-0 win over Nkwazi at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

Power fired Chilumba a day before this FAZ Super Division Week 9 match against Nkwazi.

Midfielder Larry Bwalya came off the bench to score the lone goal that helped Power recover from last weekends 2-1 loss at Green Buffaloes.

Substitute Bwalya only lasted 12 minutes on the pitch before heading in Kelvin Mubanga’s corner in the 60th minute.

The home side missed a chance to double the lead when striker Luka Lungu saw his header hit the post on 73 minutes.

Despite losing Nkwazi showed character in both halves and created some decent scoring opportunities.

The Police outfit were the first ones to create a real chance when Jeff Banda had his shot on target stopped by keeper Allan Chibwe after eight minutes.

Chibwe further stopped Steward Chikandiwa from putting Nkwazi ahead when he tipped the striker’s robust shot for a corner in the 18th minute.
