Former Kalomo Political Secretary dies

Former Political Secretary for Kalomo district during the Kaunda regime, Isaac Choonga, is dead.

Family spokesperson, Tatala Choonga, said the former freedom fighter died yesterday at his farm in Simwaanda in chief Siachitema’s area

Ms Choonga told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka that the late Choonga, 85, leaves behind a wife, Netty Madubula Choonga, five children and several grandchildren.
She said his body is lying in Kalomo General Hospital mortuary awaiting burial which will be announced in the due course.

And Chief Siachitema has described the death of the freedom fighter as a great loss to the nation.

Chief Siachitema said the late Choonga will be remembered for the good works he contributed to the nation especially fighting for the liberation of this country
He said the late Choonga also contributed greatly to the development of Kalomo district, the once first capital city of Zambia.
