Zambia head to Cosafa U17 semi’s with formality win

Zambia finished top of Group B at the 2016 Cosafa Under-17 Cup in Mauritius after a 3-0 win over Madagascar.

Zambia wrapped-up their Group B obligations on maximum 9 points without conceding a goal and scoring ten goals in three matches.

Young Chipolopolo took a 2-0 halftime lead through striker’s Mwiza Siwale of Kaisa and George Nyimbili from K-Stars in the 19th and 39th minutes respectively.

Nyimbili completed his brace in the 88th minute to earn the victory over the 2017 CAF Under-17 Cup hosts’ who exited the competition on zero points.

Malawi finished second on 6 points and join Zambia in the semifinals after a 5-0 win over Kenya who finished third on 3 points.

Zambia await runners-up from Group A with the battle there for the second semifinal spot to be decided in the Seychelles-Namibia match-up.

Hosts’ Mauritius have a huge task to beat unbeaten South Africa who have maximum 6 points and are yet to be breached in Group A.

Mauritius and Namibia have three points each while Seychelles have zero points.
