Lime Hotspurs FC loses sponsorship

Ndola Lime Company Limited has withdrawn sponsorship from FAZ Division Two Copperbet side Lime Hotspurs Football Club.

Club secretary Brown Phiri has confirmed that Ndola Lime stopped sponsoring the former Super Division side in June.

Lime is limping as evidenced by its failure fulfil a recent home fixture against Police Blue Eagles when the club could no manage to pay referees.

“The reason Ndola Lime gave is that they want to channel the meagre resources the company has to other areas which are critical to the operations of the company,” Phiri said.

Uncertainty is now surrounding the future of a once well sponsored club in the country.

“We are now appealing to well-wishers to come forward and help the team,” Phiri said.

Lime is said to be owing players upkeep allowances for three months.

The club last featured in the Super Division in 2013 before suffering demotion at the end of that season.

Players who have passed through Lime includes retired Chipolopolo defender Clive Hachilensa, Kabwe Warriors midfielder Lameck Kafwaya and Forest Rangers’ forward Kobe Chipeta among others.
