A SIX-MONTH-OLD baby girl of Kafue Estates has died after allegedly being punched on the head during a quarrel between its mother and another woman at a bar in Shikoswe in Kafue.
Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the baby, who was with its mother at the bar was punched on the head by Patricia Kaswilili.
Mr Hamoonga identified the deceased as Natasha Ndelele adding that the fight occurred last Monday around 12:30 hours at Oasis Bar in Shikoswe. The baby died on Thursday August 25, 2016.
“The matter was reported to the police by the deceased’s mother Joyce Phiri of Kafue Estates who brought in the body on Thursday August 25, 2016 at 05: 30hrs It is alleged that the baby died after being punched on the head,” Mr Hamoonga said.
Mr Hamoonga said post mortem and burial took place yesterday.

This is insane! A baby in a bar? The owners and security should be charge for having a minor in a bar. The government is also responsible if they don’t monitor these places in making sure they fine establishments that allow minors in their bars and sell alcohol to under-aged drinkers and in this case they must. Take away their alcohol licence for 6 months or close them down as a lesson to others. The police and the government need to work together on this case. The mother too should go to prison for a year including servers. If they kept serving intoxicated guests is another fine. Don’t serve intoxicated guests or to the point of intoxication! We all owe a duty of care to our patrons and responsible for them when they are in our establishments. This is why mothers need to stay home.

You have gone too far, drinking is mostly outside while a few people are inside. And I guess that it happened outside the bar.
The council and state police have both failed to control under age drinking and many more by laws. Mothers can drink with babies on their back and even give the babies some chibuku as they drink as early as 07hrs till after dark.
