MMD will defend any party’s top position contestant, Katele

Share

MMD National Secretary, Katele Kalumba, has welcomed President Rupiah Banda’s intentions to contest elections at the MMD convention.

Dr. Kalumba says he will defend President Banda and any other party member who wishes to contest the party’s top position.

He told ZNBC news in a statement that it is his constitutional responsibility as National Secretary to defend any member of the party wishing to vie for the party Presidency.

Dr. Kalumba said he will treat each expression of interest with the confidentiality and integrity it deserves.

On Tuesday, Southern province MMD Chairman, Solomon Muzhyamba, announced that the MMD in the Province had resolved to endorse Mr. Banda as its president at the party’s convention next year.

He said the party in the area will also support Mr. Banda in the 2011 Presidential election.

  1. job seeker but your boss will be 75 years by 2011 + 5 years=80 years, bushe pa zed tapaliko other energetic and political genuises other than RB ?

  2. Katele, if you want to stand as MMD President just say so. It is your democratic right. If you are afraid, just hire some boys in your constituency to spill it for you…

  3. But how come you are unable to defend Prof.Chirwa? By the Ladies and Gents there is a new party which yet to launched led by Dr Fred Mtesa fro UNZA.

  4. But he sounds like he is not in support of RB he is got some1 in mind who has approched him this could be Nevers Mumba or Bwalya Chiti since katele is also tribalistic

  5. Iwe Katele! Efinshi ifyo? Why can’t you stand iwe wine? RB will be unable to walk at that time, man. Bakote sana ba RB. You mean MMD has no capable, energetic and vibrant young men and women to stir the ship? Thats why nimvela ulesi ku supota MMD. And if there is a party with good brains, then its MMD. Manje mufana Nkalamba! Navileka pela.

  6. This is tipical African politics , all we hear is the empty tins making noise without hearing any if their policies on education, heath , taxes and the economic crisses. what a waste of space.

  7. What we know is Katele LIGHTENING is facing criminal charges and contradicting RB would just hasten his trip to jail

  8. yaba…..bakulasa apa Katele…where are ur hopes and dreams mudala?quit MMD and open up a computer cafe’ for balck muntus…

  9. How much did MMD invest in the rural areas to win the hearts of the villagers so as to win the last election?. I’m sure it is an amount or resources Sata and Hichilema can generate and invest in the same areas where they performed badly as per last elections. On the voting day people in the said villages woke up starved, but hopeful of a better day tomorrow, they felt secure, protected, positive and saw light at the end of the tunnel because MMD demonstrated so. Sata and HH please time is now go to the rural areas and invest in the afore mentioned issues and be at rest assured of victory come 2011. Sata and HH start sleeping the same bed, tomorrow you will work up leading Zambia to positive advancement through good governance.

  10. This is a very pregnant statement by Kalumba my newphew Big Dog would agree. protecting who from who and for what.Has there been some harrassment for some people beofore, if so who is behind and who has been the victim. Katele Should know that MMD maybe his party but Zambia is our Country and we are partriotic to her.He should be frank as to who the bully is rest he katele fails to protect and the burden is transfered to the Zambian people. It shows to me that there are internal problems within the party. We all should Love RB now, He is the president but as to what happens in 2011 it is not for any party to be so sure. Dont make us cross the bridge before we get there. World ecomies are shaking, and this is what we expect to be addrressed. Katele be a man and tell us. Big DOg is waiting

  11. I can’t believe this gabbage from Zed. If a leader is in power you owe suck up to him and endorse him unnecessarily. Does it mean that there is no one else to stand? Please we need someone to take us to the 21st century not someone who pretends to know the 21st century challenges. We are tired of the Madalas with these politics of appeasement. See where they have landed us because of FTJ’s ideas of putting someone he thought would be his buddy. Oh please… save us from this nonsense, i think Katele Kalumba has lost his usefulness too

  12. Katele is very right .I just hope Mr Magande will come out in the open he seems to be one credible person in MMD. Zambia needs leaders with a vision and a record of hard work

  13. Rocket Scientist Maestro Hhehhehhehhe - ndeezwa ku-musanza for Zambians in the 2011 tripartite National elections Rocket Scientist Maestro Hhehhehhehhe - ndeezwa ku-musanza for Zambians in the 2011 tripartite National elections

On Dr. Kalumba says he will defend President Banda and any other party member who wishes to contest the party’s top position and Dr. Kalumba said he will treat each expression of interest with the confidentiality and integrity it deserves, I am glad that the learned man Kaka has come out strong. Let true blue MMD do things right and short cuts should not be entertained. All the very best to all MMD presidential hopefuls and let the best man win.

  14. Most of you bloggers have misunderstood Katele because LT has not given depth to the report. Unlike other National Secretaries of the past both in UNIP and MMD who did not defend party presidential aspirants, this time Katele promises he will. Ask Kavindele, Miyanda, Sondashi and many more. They were not defended by their respective secretariats at the time they wanted to challenge the incurmbent. Give Katele some space on this matter.

  15. Dr. Katele come out clean on this issue of pipo endorsing presidential candidates using their hearts instead of brains. All those vying for State Presidency must prove to all Zambians how they are going to deliver to satisfaction of all stakeholders. Last Presidential By Elections you used lack of adquate time as reason for adopting RB and this time incumbancy. Let us what the likes of Teta, Mike, Solo and Dan who are benefiting individually they are blinded by power and cant see beyond their noses. This country need pragmatic leadership not singers or general dealers. A fair warning, MMD as far as they are concerned its RB for Presidency come what 2011 the deal has been sealed. The opposition will again divide the votes. The problem to change political landscape is HH & KCOBRA.

  16. Katele’s influence in MMD has diminished, those court cases by the time they will finish will be after 2011. As for ba Chayiman M Mabenga, will be there to endorse what the likes Ben, Mike, Solo, Dan etc will dream about. All the countries around us are making headway despite having not faced a major war. By the time Zambians realise the extent of damage done by MMD, this national will have been pluged into a national debt in excess of US$15-20Billion. Our children and their children are going to see red and by then this country will be pluged into so many choas. Distabilization of a country is atarted by one generation and those who harvest are those who are born two to three generations later. I can foresee more problems in between 2025 and 2030. We are failing our children equality.

  17. are sata and RB really the guys to rule zed in this day n at that AGE surely they are both 20 years past retirement age and still want to be the top dog aweee no no no iyo, tefyo si choncho na kalya, nda gaga not the way forward at all. 18. Let the games begin! Do you think this might be a ploy to get other aspiring candidates to name themselves, only to be disgraced in one way or another??

  19. Bushe there are no credible candidates in mmd to stand as presido? Oh, i kno! They’re all bootlickers and besides protecting ama jobs, they’ve corruption cases looming over there silly heads. Mukacimona ngaisa sata
