Police in Mansa are holding a 16 year old grade ten pupil for making counterfeit K50 000 notes.
Luapula Province Second in Command Muweswa Wakwinji confirmed the development in an interview with ZANIS in Mansa today.
Mr. Wakwinji said the juvenile was arrested after members of the public alerted the police. He said the boy is charged with making and being in possession of paper or imprints for forgery contrary to section 351 (b) cap 87 of the laws of Zambia.
Mr. Wakwinji said the scam was uncovered on Wednesday in Namwandwe after a villager noticed a K50 000 note with two men , that looked different from the ordinary notes .
He said the man in the company of the two suspects who had the counterfeit K50 000 note reported the matter to the police.
Mr. Wakwinji said the two suspects led the police to a house in a low density area in Mansa where they found the named boy who admitted to printing the counterfeit K50,000 notes.
He added that the boy demonstrated to the police how he printed the counterfeit notes and explained that the printer he was using belonged to his elder brother who was on the Copperbelt.
Mr. Wakwinji urged members of the public to be on the lookout because the police have not established the amount of counterfeit notes in circulation.
He said the boy is currently in police custody and will appear in court on Tuesday.

How did this ka small kapwalala do it?? at 16 years of age only.. nadabwa…. Na ndalama zake naimwe.. kuti zingonunkha day in day out pakuti zikhala mu ma bra ku maliketi!!!
we have a lot of young creative people who are not helped to use their energy inn the right way. This boy has an imaginary mind which can be of great use if he went to a proper school
16 year old awe
INTLLIGENT BOY!!!
what intelligence is involved in scanning and printing a 50k note. this punk was smart enough to do that but not smart enough to realize that he did a lousy job and his counterfeits did not look near the original. Cage the nitwit and let him learn to be smart enough to commit a crime and get way with it!…
Is the policeman “Wakwinji” Zambian? some names also!
Its only in the northern part of zambia where u can find such things. That is what we call creative activity. At the age of 16? Mmm inteligent boy in the making.
It is a pity that youths are involved in such acts instead of studying hard for there better future. The poor boy must be jailed. The question is why? Find a formation centers for youths where they can accesse education while serving they sentences.
Please don’t leave the chap unpunished!
Zambian prisons are producing criminals instead of reformed citizens. What is the government doing about this?
Let this chap be a lesson to others.
THIS KA SMALL KAPWALALA IS JUST BEING CREATIVE AND EXPOSING THE WEAKNESSESS IN THE ZAMBIAN KWACHA NOTES, INSTEAD OF ARRESTING HIM HE SHOULD BE HELPED WITH A SMALL LOAN WHICH WILL MAKE HIM SELF SUSTAINABLE.
i think the boy was uzd by some older thugs. there must be sm1 bigger behind this.
This boy is a genius!!! Just try ad get ideas from him pliz…..
# woman of substance ulina zelu maningi…..are you single?
The boy should be made bank Governor of Zimbabwe…I am Bob will find the chap resourceful….
Hey fellow blogers nalala nomba ni zero 1 kuno….Woman of twanikane naumfwa inkani nikulava …ulemoneka kwati kuti wasunga inganda. from your nambala wanu comment
even demonstrating his scan technique,i think this really low key theft. lock him for 2 weeks just in time for him to return to school
#18 ningumfwa ilyashi. Is it cyber house keeping?
this Kid deinatley hasnt watched enough movies yet…
how do you get urself caught…
there is nothing genius about being caught
It was not him who was caught first…this boy is clever he was making the notes and yet he was not the one who was using them…the story above says that two suspects led the police to a low desinty area where this boy lives…so abantu abakulu ebamuletelele umwaiche…whisle blowers
Inkani bushe ni cyber house? Mwasuke gelo nga tawamwasuke naku lava pofye pantu ine ndefwayafye cyber romance. Ok that the boy shud b made bank of zim governor ikali iyo. Why cant they make him manager 4 zanaco mansa branch? Wanisekesa.
Umwaice zoona bamumweneshamo ayi? Let the boy be! Why not arrest aba K10bn instead? This boy has plundered the nation, he’s jst creative! Viva luapula
Correction: “this boy has NOT plundered the nation”
with my degrees…i wouldnt have a single idea wher to start from even if i wanted to make a ka zale….
Ifikulu pa kaiche.Just give him 2 weeks in jail and continue with serious court cases
If you also had that machine ,you would do the same ala!
The boy is being sent by some big thugs out there… the police should work hard and investigate who is behind the counterfeit money…..At 16, he has to be thinking about wat he will be in 10years time not wat he is doing.
The Boy has no case. He never atempted to use the note. Printers can photocopy zambian notes without problems. Being in the bush it is a big issue
Was this a money printing machine or just an ordinary printer? From the way it is stated, one is left to wonder.i might even go so far as suggest that the big bro was involved. Please LT be more ellaborate
Very creative boy. Let him be employed by the anti fraud unit to help dig the real fake money manufacturers.
They musn’t jail this boy instead warn him against doing that and let him continue with his education. Otherwise if they just make a single mistake of putting this boy in jail then, #1. He will lose interest in school. #2. His mind will be changed to jail life and he will even become so experienced in theft and on the other side it’ will be just like more of promoting theft in the country.
I think so too. I really dont understand
MY MUSHOTA I ALSO DONT UNDERSTAND
