A 33–year-old customs clearing agent of Nakonde district in Northern Province has committed suicide by shooting himself in the head after a domestic quarrel.
Northern division police commanding officer, Charles Lungu, has confirmed the incident in an interview with the Zambia News and Information Services [ZANIS] in Nakonde today.
Mr Lungu said Isaac Mwanza of Mukoma Site and Service plots shot himself in the head last night and died instantly.
Mr Lungu said Mwanza shot himself inside his newly acquired Mitsubishi Pajero near TAZARA-Nakonde railway station around 23:00 hours.
Mr Lungu said the body of Mwanza is lying in Nakonde health centre mortuary awaiting a postmortem.
Police sources said of late Mwanza had been threatening to shoot himself and was once summoned to the police station where he was counseled.
Police sources added that according to initial investigations, Mwanza yesterday openly moved with his pistol throughout the day as he continued to drink beer from one point to another.
He sneaked from his friends after he allegedly quarreled with his spouse who allegedly followed him to a drinking place.
Later in the night he drove towards TAZARA railway station where he shot himself and died instantly.
Members of the public who heard the gun shot immediately informed the police who arrived at the scene and found him already dead.

sad, story.
God will Judge.
The police knew his situation earlier!! Why still allow the man to move with a gun the whole day?

Woow
walya fyafula .RIP
Too bad man. Rest till the judgement day.
Sad story indeed and it’s a pity our police couldn’t help with the situation even after knowing what he was up to. Ba kapokola mwaba shani kanshi ? did he buy you beers so that you let him walk openly with his pistol even after sitting him down at your station over shooting himself. Too bad for the wife who followed him to the pub instead of waiting for him at home to prevent what has happened. Wamona ichikwela chakusha mukamfwilwa

The police should not be blamed for someone who chose to kill himself. If the gun was withdrawn from him, he probably could have laughed at them that they think using a gun is the only means of comitting suicide, i have a good rope for the job or some poisonous substance or he could have drove in his Pajero to the nearest crocodile infested river and threw himself there. Counseling should have worked. Maybe we should question the effectiveness of counseling offered by the police. Maybe!!
no one should be blamed it was his decision, let him rot in hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He decided to take his own life so may he rot in hell as bobo says.
Bobo @ 9 and Lucky @ 10, you’re both absolutely right. Nobody who decides to take their own life deserve any sympathy at all; certainly not from God who gave them that precious life. It is not their decision to take that life! Rot in eternal hell!!
wat is this world turning out 2 be,Lord have mercy
What an i d i o t!
This is what happens when you give success to a f o o l! Why did he even have a gun any way?
Fyakuifwaila, may he rot in hell fire! others are struggling for sweet life, elo uyu mambala aipaya.foolish zambian
No one to blame in this matter.its just a sad story. I mean there were so many offences he committed, 1 drink driving, 2 moviing with weapon in public,? licenced. etc
A few months ago a friend of mine did the same thing,He took his own life because he could see visions of people trying to kill him,no one else except himself could see these people trying to murder hime,so he decided to end the drama himself,so sad indeed.Suicide has become a deadly plague nowadays.Suicide sometimes proceeds from cowardice, but not always; for cowardice sometimes prevents it; since as many live because they are afraid to die, as die because they are afraid to live. The real reason for not committing suicide is because you always know how swell life gets again after the hell is over.Every man has the right to risk his own life in order to preserve it. Has it ever been said that a man who throws himself out the window to escape from a fire is guilty of suicide?
Customs clearing agents are involved in fraud and corruption alot of times, maybe he was prompted by the net casting that is going on. He just bought a Pajero, perhaps it was not from his salary?
Its a sad story yes, but there is more to his death than what the public may know. I agree with the ”woman of subtance” who said may be there was something going on in his work circles. afwile he had enough. A quarrel may have erupted after the wife asked about his activities. you never know. this credit crunch is an evil to everyone. There is a customs clearing agent which is being investigated for loss of millions of kwacha belonging to a kitwe business man. I stop here.
I meant an agent there in nakonde.
Did they find him with the gun inside the car? Why was he let by his evil friends to be moving with the gun whole day? This is satanic!
Very sad indeed ,Is this the gentleman who used to drive a Land cruiser Prado and is very good soccer fan.My condolences ,i will never forget the good times we had together ,the big Heineken drinks and Nyama yachoma across the boarder.
but how come nobodycollected this gun from him even after he aired his intentions…shame….i feel sorry for the spouse left behind…will probably blame hersel…(or himself if gay )
what..is gay an insult LT?
Miss Daisy (#24). I am not from LT, But just wanted to say you look gay on your picture. Bad word ? No! the word means “happily excited”, “Merry” and “exuberabt.” The Bible uses the same (GAY) word in James 2:3 KJV, And it means “magnificent”, or “gorgeous.” Today it is carrying another meaning because it is being used by homosexuals to mean “given to social pleasures.” The word in itself is not bad but it is being abused. So you are gay (gorgeous) what are you doing in Zimbabwe with Mugabe?
He’s not the only sucider, this thing has been happening for so long and thats the wage of drinking careless. ‘Alibipisha umutima’ he has judged himself.
