judge whether or not the political pact between the Patriotic Front (PF) and the United Party for National Development (UPND) is aimed at serving the interests of Zambians.
Mr. Mwaanga, who is Parliamentary Chief Whip, observed that the two opposition political parties were founded on two different ideologies and wondered how the pact will be sustained based on two distinct principals.
He told journalists in Lusaka today that the ruling MMD is not threatened by the recently signed political pact between the PF and the UPND.
Mr. Mwaanga said the ruling party is also not panicking over the recent political pact contrary to suggestions by some quarters of society.
He said the MMD is not scared of the pact because it is does not clearly define details on what issues the two political players intend to achieve for the country apart from unseating the MMD government.
Mr. Mwaanga also wondered whether members of the two opposition parties were widely consulted before their leaders reached the decision that has since been received with mixed feelings by a cross section of society.
He, however, said political parties in the country are at liberty to form pacts and alliances.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mwaanga has urged all stakeholders including opposition political parties in the country to support President Rupiah Banda’s government in its efforts to address the country’s challenges.
He said there is need to further unite as a country in order to address challenges that have been caused by the global economic meltdown.
He also commended President Banda’s administration for its continued efforts aimed at taking the country out of its economic malaise.
And Mr. Mwaanga has donated K1.5 million cash and five copies of his book “The Long Sunset” to Community Library Development Network (CLDN).
Speaking during the donation at his office in Lusaka today, Mr. Mwaanga said the donation is a contribution towards CLDN’s vision of helping reduce illiteracy levels in communities.
He said it is important to ensure that communities have access to literature materials as education is key to reducing poverty.
Mr. Mwaanga appealed to Zambians and international donors to support efforts by the community libraries through contribution of daily newspapers, educative books and financial resources.
He noted that such efforts can also further enhance the culture of reading and education in the country.
Mr. Mwaanga, who is also former patron of the Zambia Library Association, said there is need for Zambians to revamp their reading culture in order to expand their knowledge franchise.
He said it is sad that the reading culture in the country has gone down despite Zambia having been one of the countries with a good reading culture.
And speaking after receiving the donation, CLDN Chief Executive Officer and Founder Jifipa Ngalande described the donation aimed at serving communities in townships as timely.
Mr. Ngalande said there is need to help communities with information as it is an important component of development in the country.
He said the donation will also help enhance Zambian literature and the culture of reading and commended Mr. Mwaanga for the gesture.

Just waiting for the day those eyes of yours will stop listening completely so that you stop rigging and leave us alone.
He’s doing fine now. He can even donate K1.5 m. Anyway, he’s getting ready to do his job. Watch him.
concentrate on the healing of your holed head malume…
LT why are you moderating my comments? I am as harmless as sheep when it comes to comments. Anyway folks, watch this man again, he is out to cause mischief. The founders of MMD are quiet but he is talking when he knows that we know that all MMD founders were either relegated to the fringes or they just got frustrated by those who do not understand why the MMD was formed and are now just looking for jobs and money. We know all these games except that in Africa you dare fight, they descend on you indeed like rural folks and want to eliminate you and your progressive voice but one day we will take over. Just give us a little bit of time to reorg.
VJ leave PF and HH alone just wait this time around coz your days are numbered soon or latter you be out coz History is on the Wall just prepare for your waste MMD
You are just feeling the impact and weight of the two gaints
Forget the riging 2011 we want the new Government we are tired of these thieves in our own soils of zambia
Alale!!!
And how will posterity judge you ba Vj,?……if you comment on something it means that its a threat to you. Ask yourself how Africa views you. Your are known as “”public enemy in society””. You have no right to even comment. Just work on your salvation so God and people will forgive you for rigging.
How will you be remebered?????
#Zed
Are you MMD or what tell us please if u always have some shares from the brown envelops from nyama soya’s corruption practicises
Sometimes I wonder what calibre of people we have on this blog! VJ is a Zambian and has the right to say whatever he wants to say. Why ask him to shut up! Leave the man alone!!! Even the rigging allegations have never been proved. I am afraid that Zambia is turning into a country of rumour mongering. VJ is a very senior citizen who does not deserve such comments from chaps who have done nothing for mother Zambia! VJ continue serving mother Zambia and stop listening to good for nothing charaters!
# Coster ,
can you plse again read my comment ,am not mmd bro ok
Ba VJ, kalaleni fye! mwa chitako na donate ka one point chite, ka. Ya picki’nga economy ka. do less talking. Kuti yafuma oxygen mumutu. Muli m’boo muja, ka. kalaleni bakaamba.
iwe ka # 10
is VJ your father or your uncle? As mush as VJ is entitled to his own opinion, so are we. Ulichipuba
#10 you are right on the money. So much rumour mongering. Some even suggested that VJ was in Malawi to rig elections. How shameful. This rigging business is just an urban legend in the opposition camp. Rigging an election is a serious offence and Sata being who he is if he had solid evidence of rigging he would, together with the post, made it public. Nobody forced Sata to withdraw his case in court, he did it on his own.
Leave VJ alone. This man is a statesman and deserves respect. Some of you the only book you will ever write is a post on this blog. This man has written a number of books and you got to show respect for him. He served the country with dignity and because of his political savvy and contribution, Zambia was freed from a one party state.
#10 I agree with u,Zambia is truly becoming a rumour-full country. No proof ,no facts….and am not MMD and neither do I support MMD but wat VJ has said is very true, knowing the king-Njoka ,I also DOUBT if the pact will see many days!kaya kaya kaya!
VJ 4 life ……..The man is breathing again and $$$in his pocket. Thanks RB for resurrecting VJ …Chief Whipppppppp……and thanks to achimwene…He is back tat work. He was paid some cool $$$in malawi for a short term ” 3 weeks ‘ consultancy on how to cause confusion in the electroral process and how to win…..may $ 1million.
10, 14 and 15. Right on about Zambia and all these rumours. What do you think VJ does to rig, jump around on a broom stick and stuuf marked ballots in ballot boxes. However as for respect, its up to each individual to make their own decision , but certainly lets seperate fact from fiction. VJ is no election rigging guru
“The long sunset for sure. More like twilight if you ask me.
hey iwe wechipuba chi # 13……..no insults OK.no calling yo frendz “chipuba”
#10 where are you currently. Its people like you who make these people think they are God. Are u new not to know that not all things that are not proved are false. I also doubt your calibre to serious issues.
#17 very true.zambians have been made to fear even VJ’s shadow, diverting their attention from the REAL RIGGING GURUs a.k.a “image builders” …..poor zambians wake up!
VJ just wait your time is coming very soonest.
Welcome back from your very succesful trip to Malawi. Good analysis, the pact will not work at all costs. Putting cats and rats in the same room will not work at all.
#15, you’re spot on. I dono why pipo always assume that if u dont support Sata then u r MMD. Pls dont bury yo head in yo own confusion. A right is a right, whether MMD says it or indeed PF. What VJ has said is just true, no matter how much u insult him. UPND and PF are very different parties, whether u r in PF or not. Teaming up to remove MMD is not a solution for Zambia. Anybody with enough sense shud know this. The same Zambians in govt will remain in govt, Sata or no Sata. Performance for our mother Zambia depends 90% on the attitudes of the individual members of the public towards development. UPND, just like the Post will soon realise who PF is the day before Sata’s innoguration. Then weeping and gnashing of teeth will ensue. Posterity.
VJ mind ur own business, why should u even comment? u are MMD and stay out of the pact or are u scared?
ukumishinga “butter” pa menso ati VJ ni rigger!while yo eyes are on VJ ,sam1 else is busy rigging for MMD.remember those trucks which AntiRigging Zambia Ltd spotted in Livingstone?wud u believe me that that story was “cooked” up by MMD to divert yo attention?imwe mwapepeka nama trucks upto LSK while the “real” trucks carrying pre-marked ballots passed on “clean and smartly”.just like in a movie!he heh heh heh
Matworld, you are getting it wrong, VJ is no election witch. This is just a myth. Try and look around Africa and see which rulling party ever loses elections, especially when an incumbant is contesting. Our Democratic system still favours the ruling party, actually Zambia is probably one of the countries that has a relatively better chance of ousting the ruling party because of the free press, urbanization and even the realtive autonomy of the electoral commision
welcome to another “Tom and Jerry ” episode , just after shaking hands they will be busy chasing each other, calling each other names, all over the kitchen!he heh heh heh he heh heh!
Positivist Pa Zed.
You are very right no one will remove these pipo from power, that is why I don’t even want to waste my time to vote. But Iam sure you are one of us pipo who believe that everything has its own it,even the bible says that,so the time will come for this pipo to face consequences that is why I said VJ’s time will come.It may not be soon not even here on earth, but it will come.
LONG SUNSET indeed!! There couldn’t have been any better title for yo book other than this one. All well meaning Zambians have eagerly waited 4 yo sunset but it’s really been long.
Matworld, they can be removed but it will take lots of hard work and tactic. However if you take out MMD and replace it wuth say PF, you are effectively replacing MMD 1 with a replica. who is just as dictatorial, corrupt and intolerant
akasuba kawa ba VJ nomba iyeeeee uluse!how is Shala Muana by the way?
mazoka might have been dribbled but ba sata bena just loses clean elections.
The game has started. Vj ´s pieces are on the table. He has made the first move ,lets see your move. Vj the Don !!!!
And I suppose all of you zombies belirve that Michael Sata is the man of integrity you are looking for because Fred Meembe carries his picture every day. I feel sorry for all of you, because you have decided to ignore history and have chosen to repeat the the Third Term mistake. Rupiah Banda has made Mmembe lose a lot of money he put in Zambian Airways and will have to pay a huge debt US$3m for nothing. He has sworn to destroy Banda no, matter what, and that is what all this is about. All of you including Sata are just tools or cannon fodder in his battle. If Mmembe had a choice he would have started marketing Magande, but that is not possible for now until Banda is destroyed in MMD Party.
Great MMD panic stuff from my relative Mr VJ Mwaanga who had resigned from politics when late LP Mwanawasa fired him from GRZ, but has behaved as an opportunist when he flip-flopped to support President RB Banda for Zambian President who has now rewarded him with a Chief Whip position. Very funny that this is the man who is commenting on the PF and UPND PACT.
However, I respect VJ for his contribution to Zambia since about 1966 or so when he became an Ambassador. Now, aged about 66 years old, he seems to be seeing the unity between tribal PF and the mighty UPND as an amalgamation of doom when the leaders of the two largest opposition parties are simply trying to UNITE all Zambian tribes after the MMD recklessly allow the Undereducate to coin this division we note today – where some
want to appear as more important Zambians than the rest of the 70 or so tribes. This is sad on the part of a national leader VJ.
Anyhow, this PF-UPND PACT has given MMD sleepless nights within just 4 or so days of being formed for when VJ comes on the scene especially through a PRESS CONFERENCE it means that things are not looking good for his MMD group. Thus, I just like his “He however said that if the pact will materialise into anyhting, the MMD will deal with it when the time comes.” This is why I have written somewhere that the PF and UPND parties must continue separate so that the Undereducate Sata will only endorse president HH or anyone the UPND will field for Presidency in 2011 as the one all Zambians MUST vote for as he will pull out of the presidential race. This is the only way MMD will be sent into untold disarray as their initial election plans will be disoriented.
My above point is echoed in Mr VJ Mwaanga’s “He said the MMD is not scared of the pact because it is does not clearly define details on what issues the two political players intend to achieve for the country apart from unseating the MMD government“.
This lack of clarity in issues is what is need to confound those plotting against the move by both PF and UPND.
Let those with ears hear this rare advice. Have a blessed day and keep well.

As for “And Mr. Mwaanga has donated K1.5 million cash and five copies of his book “The Long Sunset” to Community Library Development Network (CLDN). Speaking during the donation at his office in Lusaka today, Mr. Mwaanga said the donation is a contribution towards CLDN’s vision of helping reduce illiteracy levels in communities.“, firstly the economy has picked up now after the creditors seem to have had done heavy repossession activities in the past and secondly the illiteracy levels seriously need to be reduced in Zambia.
Because of bad reading culture and illiteracy, we now see some bloggers failing to contribute to threads but insult others. SAD.
I hope the insulting blogger group will change for the better.

Well done hehehe. One would have thought by now people should have known you are MMD. Only here to discredit PF knowing very well that UPND stand no chance. Viva RB.
40 Kawambwa dude greetings. On your “Well done hehehe. One would have thought by now people should have known you are MMD. Only here to discredit PF knowing very well that UPND stand no chance. Viva RB“, I am here to provide my independent posts to the benefit of all Zambians.
The PACT is all about making a UPND person led as presidential candidate in 2011 whoever it may be and not the Undereducate Sata MC. The simple reason is that the ‘FINISH SATA PROJECT’ has gained good moment and may achieve its purpose as the Undereducate’s image is badly dented from his past dealings.
This is why the Undereducate PF self-appointed leader Sata MC is the one who called for UPND to join him in a PACT and not vice versa.

Mwaanga comment on MMD theft not on the pact.A genuine Politician could have resigned or retired from politics. Some of you are seconding MMD to continue, are you aware that if MMD continues in power after 2011 the economy of Zambia will be worse than Zimbabwe. And some sad moments country wide will be there.
BA VJ,WE WILL VOTE MMD OUT IN 2011.INFACT AFTER SATA WE WILL GIVE POWER TO HH=ATLEAST 10 YEARS.THEN THE COUNTRY CAN MOVE FORWARD.YOU HAVE TAKEN US BACKWARDS YOU SICK MEN!
#41 That`s even better. Reason why this PF-UPND won`t work. Viva MMD.
#43 Ichishinka there is no opposition party at the moment capable of “ousting” the mighty MMD. PF is led by a dictator, UPND is regional (only known in Tonga land). Viva RB.
# 35 Hehehehehehe, how about calling Vj undereducate too? He is in the same boat with Sata when it comes to education.
#46 But hehehehe`s father was an “undereducate” as well. The boy has no respect for his father as well.
46 Kalos2020 greetings. On “# 35 Hehehehehehe, how about calling Vj undereducate too? He is in the same boat with Sata when it comes to education.“, VJ is educated (see w w w . geocities . com / maiddie / mwaangav . h t m l) and thus there is no way I can become a liar by calling him undereducated. I have tried to image build the Undereducate PF self-appointed leader Sata MC, by asking him to take Grade 7, later 9 and then 12 exams or their equivalent one so that he can stop being undereducated like VJ did and others, but you caharacters who are hostile to truth and progress of the Undereducate do not want him to take this noble and good route. Why? Answer could be that you hate the Undereducate and do not want him improve.

Ba VJ good you have resurrected from the dead. But knowing the problem you have, it is just for a while. Dont fear the pact man..you will not be arrested no. The Virus will do the work for us.
Kambongolo the pact will not work. Viva RB. You guys will be crying even in 2016 when RB is sworn in.
47 Kawambwa dude, you can speculate but the truth is that neither my father was nor mother is undereducated following your “#46 But hehehehe`s father was an “undereducate” as well. The boy has no respect for his father as well.” Otherwise, I do not disrespect anyone but just “call a spade a spade” for I was brought up to appreciate and acknowledge TRUTH and nothing else.

Teacher!
VJ looks healthy in this photo. Hope he will be around for the 2016 elections.
52/3 Kawambwa dude, Continue confusing yourself with “Hehehe your father was an “undereducate”. A primary school teacjher is an “undereducate”. You can deny it however you want, but the fact remains. “Undereducate”” and “Teacher!”.
Such confounding oneself is what happens when you do not have facts. Later, when you write something sensible maybe.

How do I know your father is dead? How do I know he was a primary school teacher? You are a simple bully. A liar. I have met Tongas who do not lie! lol! Stay well but learn to respect other peoples` parents.
Die VJ, what are you still hanging on for?
Hehehe. I have to go. We have to keep MMD going. I will respond to you tomorrow whatever you write. Your HH only has one more election to lose to go in the book of world records! He will go burst and abandon politics. Wait another 3 years. He will be at State House asking for a job. Viva RB! Viva MMD.
Long live VJ. We need you for the 2016 elections. We are not worried about 2011 as it will be a walkover.

Looking @ his caliber, K1.5m that VJ has donated is nothing ($300). What can u do with that money in zed 2day? He`s trying 2 deceive the masses as if he`s working hard, but not. We no longer need such politicians in our country. What can VJ boast of? What tangible changes apart from rigging elections has he made in Zambian politics? If i am not mistaken, VJ started his political career when he was 18 or 20 somewhere there. But no achievements 4 the country. Yet an uneducated Michael Sata made a lot of tremendous achievements that every one can see …(@least no education back ground but effective)

It is evident that Rupiah has no idea whatsoever about running this country. It is sad to see people wallow in poverty, die of curable diseases, and lose their jobs. It is even worse to know that Zambia has a President who has no economic recovery game plan. Time has come to take stock of our decisions as Zambians. For too long, we as a people have been too docile and allowed incompetent people to be at the helm of managing our country’s affairs. Zambians, we have ourselves to blame that we cannot seem to elect leaders who mean well for the rest of us. We are to blame for the situation we find ourselves in. We need to do some serious introspective search of our souls and ask if we make wrong decisions consciously, or we are blinded by our own inadequacies.
Surely, a peaceful country like Zambia, with abundant natural resources, can still have a meager twenty percent of its population in formal employment, eighty percent of its people are still illiterate, and we cannot boast of any meaningful achievement. My heart bleeds to see how hopeless the future of our children is in this country. Either we do not care about the goodness of our lives, we don’t see the bad, or we are just plain ignorant about what we need as a people.
Since Rupiah was plucked from his farm to become Zambia’s vice-president, he has not shown any character to warrant him being President. He seems to be in wonder land all the time with no meaningful progressive approach to national issues that matter to the Zambian people.
The best decision that Rupiah can make now is simply to step down. He has failed to provide leadership. He is not a captain of a ship who steers it to safety in the midst of deadly storms. We have seen nothing inspiring about this man. It is time that we as Zambians woke up from this deep slumber and check our surroundings thoroughly. This man has to go back to his farm. IMPEACH RUPIAH please.
“and that the PF and UPND are not discussing the Presidential candidate for the 2011 elections”.Quote
This is a typical case of “conflict theorists” playing the futile haphazard none rational political acrobatics alienating their grassroots.
The whole academic exercise’s futility is in its lack of unity and clear purpose. All we are seeing are anthill made political statements alien to the grassroots who only after are being dragged to kiss the marriage of convenience between sole losers. Human beings are not moved like pawns on a chessboard. To build binding solidarity, the grassroots is the real axis of power if widely engaged in consensus. Political integration starts at the grassroots with shared social progress value.
