Stakeholders seminar on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) to be held in Lusaka

The ministry of Transport and Communication in partnership with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will hold a one day consultative public stakeholders seminar on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in Lusaka.

The seminar is aimed at coming up with ways of reducing traffic congestion in Lusaka using ITS.

According to a joint statement issued by the ministry of Transport and Communication and JICA to ZANIS last evening, the seminar will provide solutions aimed at reducing traffic accidents in the country.

The seminar will discuss ways for improving of the road infrastructure so as to meet the traffic demands and reduce on travel time for enhanced economic development.

During the seminar the officers from the ministry of Transport and Communication will present findings of the survey they conducted and also provide tentative action plans on ITS.

The seminar which is scheduled for 2nd March will be officially opened by Permanent Secretary in the ministry of Transport and Communication

  1. Why Japan and not newly industrialized countries or other developing countries who have solved such stupid problems.

  2. Public transport system must be the key like in every developed and developing country. We have too many cars for our roads, leading to growing pollution and not just congestion. And with large no.s being refurbished cars that aren’t fuel efficient, it only gets worse.
