Kitwe Utd relinquish lead in promotion race

Kitwe United relinquished the FAZ Division 1 Zone 2 top spot following Sunday’s goalless draw at home against Gomes Wanderers played at Garden Park Stadium.

This was Chingalika’s second consecutive draw following last weekend’s 2-2 stalemate at Indeni in Ndola.

Kitwe are now second on the table with 19 points, two below new Zone 2 leaders Kansanshi Dynamos.

The Buchi Boys led Zone 2 for three consecutive weeks prior to dropping into second position on Sunday after the Week 10 match.

Meanwhile, Kansanshi moved to the top after edging Zesco Luapula 1-0 in Mansa.

The win in Luapula pushed Kansanshi to 21 points after playing 10 points.

Mufulira Blackpool continued with their impressive form as they stunned Ndola United 1-0 away at Musa Kasonka Stadium to record their fourth victory in the last five matches.

The Kamuchanga Boys jumped from 8th to sixth place with 16 points, just three away from the second position.

In Zone 1, National Assembly are leading the table with a seven point gap after beating Chilenje’s Happy Hearts 2-1 in the Lusaka derby to move to 26 points from 10 matches played.

Kabwe Academy are still leading Zone 3 with 23 points despite suffering a 2-0 loss at Riverside United.

In Zone 4, leaders New Monze Swallows forced a goalless draw against Young Green Eagles to stay top after narrowly increasing their tally from 19 to 20 points.
