Chilanga district comes up with a five year Strategic plan.

Chilanga district in Lusaka province has launched its five year strategic development plan with a view of modernising the district.

Speaking during the launch, Council Vice Chairman Roland Hamaimbo urged all stakeholders to take keen interest in the strategic plan as it is an important tool that will be useful in guiding day to day decisions by the local authority.

Mr. Hamaimbo says the new strategic plan will also be used for evaluating progress and changing approaches when developing the district.

The Council Vice Chairman also said he is thankful to the visionary leadership of his Republican President Edgar Lungu and his leadership.

He said it is the government’s vision in pursuit of continuous improvement in the service delivery through infrastructure development in the district.

And speaking at the same event Chilanga district commissioner Edith Muwana said her office will work closely with the local authority to ensure the resources meant to implement the district strategic plan is used for the intended purpose.

Mrs Muwana said the strategic plan is a guide meant to develop the district for the benefit of the people.

By the year 2021, the district will build new and additional public amenities and facilities in the town, including markets, bus stations, public toilets, community halls, and public parks.

The strategic plan also seeks to build new roads, drainages and bridges in order to ensure connectivity and linkages between different areas of the district to support investments.

In addition, Chilanga district council will put measures to regularise and upgrade some of the big unplanned settlement in the district.

These public amenities should facilitate the process of transformation of Chilanga into a secure, attractive and prosperous district.

  2. This type of planning is welcome and is now a modern trend worldwide. Sub-Saharan cities are booming—demographically and economically—and will continue to do so for much of this century . The percentage of people living in cities could jump to 84 percent by 2060 (from 40 percent in 2010) according to the African Development Bank.

  3. Give them a chance instead of being politically pessimistic all the time. It appears you don’t want to see any success unless it’s oval head in office.

  4. 4 years to 2021 – let’s see if they are going to walk the talk ! We will be watching

  5. Something is wrong in the heads of UPND supporters,@3! Wow! HH will be president in 2021? Maybe he will be president in 1955 or was, since this year has Under Fives in it.
