Nalolo Residents urged not to marry off young girls

Nalolo District Education Standards Officer (DESO) Liwakala Muyoba has advised parents in the area to desist from marrying off their girl-children at a tender age.

Mr. Muyoba says girls should be allowed to complete school and become successful people in society so that they participate in making productive decisions that will develop the nation.

He was speaking during a Public Meeting where Nalolo Heads of Departments (HODs) took time to sensitize the community on the various services that are being carried out by government.

Mr. Muyoba also advised girls who fall pregnant to return to school in order to continue with their education adding that government is finalizing the construction of Nalolo Boarding School and has so far upgraded Nambwae basic to a secondary school to ensure retention of pupils in the area.

And Nalolo Community Development Officer Muswala Kapalu called on parents to enroll for Adult Literacy Classes that have commenced at Muoyo Secondary School.

Mr. Kapalu also disclosed about the Girls Education Women Empowerment & Livelihood (GEWEL) project that is being implemented by the department of Community Development aimed at uplifting the welfare of girls and Women in the district.

Meanwhile, Nalolo District Commissioner (DC) Teddy Chimbinde also urged the people of Nalolo District to interact with Government officers so as to acquire knowledge about the services that are being implemented by Government.
