Shepolopolo kick-off Cosafa Womens Cup preps

Shepolopolo have launched preparations for the 2017 COSAFA Women’s Championship to be held in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe next month.

The team regrouped in Lusaka on Monday to begin preparations for the regional championship that will be held from September 13-24.

Zambia coach Albert Kachinga admits his women must be prepared adequately to excel in Zimbabwe.

“We have just started preparations. I think we have three weeks to prepare the girls for the tournament,” Kachinga said.

“We need to work on a number of things so that we can bring the girls to the condition that is acceptable to go play such a tough tournament. We have got teams like South Africa and Zimbabwe,” he said.

Kachinga said Zambia will go to Zimbabwe with the hope of reaching the final.

“We are looking at nothing less than going as far as the final. We want to go as far as the final. A precedent has been set by the Under-20 boys who won the Cosafa, Africa and qualified for the World Cup,” Kachinga said.

According to COSAFA, this year’s Women’s Championship will bring together 11 of the 14 countries from the region, as well as East African guest nation Kenya.

  1. Those Zambian girls are too short and tiny. Women soccer players have hips, and average should be 28 years old.
