Teachers Union will not defend any member who forged qualifications

The Basic Education Teachers Union of Zambia (BETUZ) says it will not defend any teacher that will be disciplined for forging professional and academic qualifications.

BETUZ Spokesperson Kabika Kakunta says the Union will allow the law to take its course and that the union will not interfere.

Mr. Kankuta says the revelations have dented the image of the teaching profession but assured the country that the processes of getting rid of bad elements have already started.

He was speaking when he featured on SEVEN Days Today a TV 2 News and Current affairs Programme.

Mr. Kankuta commended the Teaching Service Commission for being on top of things in addressing the issue of teachers with fake qualifications.

    • Give them a second chance and help them get genuine papers by sending them back to school. You’ll be surprised that some of them are better than teachers with genuine qualifications. I don’t know what the fuss is about cause back in our days we were taught by untrained teachers and we made it to university. Just assess them, keep those who’ve been delivering good results and sponsor them to go for further studies.

  1. These forged qualifications are everywhere, even in the Police Service and the Army, there are plenty of them that have forged papers!!

  2. Teachers with forged qualifications are the ones who eventually get big positions in the ministry. They end up as architects of corruption, nepotism and enthnism. The earlier you flush them, the better for real teachers

  3. FALSIFICATION OF QUALIFICATIONS IS VERY HIGH IN THIS COUNTRY..!!!!!!!!!!!

THE EXERCISE SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO OTHER MINISTRIES/DEPARTMENTS…..AGRICULTURE, WORKS, COMMERCE,PARLIAMENT, FINANCE, DEFENCE, HEALTH, HOME AND FOREIGN AFFAIRS, QUASI-GOVERNMENT INSTITUTIONS LIKE RATSA ETC…… I CAN GUARANTEE YOU, THE REVELATION FROM EDUCATION IS JUST A TIP OF THE ICEBERG ..SOME OF THESE DEGREE/MASTERS INCLUDING PHDs ARE FAKE. ..WE HAVE MANY HIGH PROFILE PERSONALITIES IN THIS COUNTRY WITH FAKE PAPERS.. PERHAPS THE REASON WE ARE LOSING MOTHERS AFTER GIVING BIRTH…. TIME TO ACT IS NOW.

  4. Let the the government create another commission for other civil servants you will you see how Zambia is rampant.

Avoid packaging such irrational opinions on these fora. Stand for quality education even though your sibilings may be culprits.

  6. we can not give chance to criminals, arrest them, so that they reavel who gave them a job after knowing that they dont qualify. here is the issue masumba was arrested for forging a qualification. it wil be unfair if they are let loose arrest them. stop the jokes of supporting criminal the precedent was set arrest them,.
