Lusaka City Council (LCC) has assured members of the general public that it will continue conducting routine health inspections on public facilities around the city.
LCC Public Relations Officer George Sichimba says routine health inspections in public places such as schools are important as they play a major role in combating diseases such as cholera.
Mr. Sichimba says inspections should not only be done when there is an outbreak but conducted routinely.
Mr. Sichimba said this in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today.
He attributed the stoppage of inspections by the council to lack of funding.
The LCC PRO implored members of the general public to work closely with the local authority where keeping of surroundings is concerned.
Some parents and guardians in the City had demanded the council to consider routine health inspections in learning institutions as a long term measure to avert the outbreak of epidemic diseases such as cholera.

The PF has been running Lusaka Municipality for over 10 years. This is just in case people had also gone to sleep and forgot about that. Next election consider even an independent Mayor …the PF have clearly failed in Municipal management of Lusaka. No more excuses for them PLEASE

LOOK AT THE ROADS IN LUSAKA, WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTENANCE..THE ROAD FROM WOODLANDS PICK AND PWEEE DOWN THROUGH WOODLAND STADIUM HAS DEVELOPED POTHOLES..AND OUR COUNCIL IS SLEEPING…
So this basic routine inspection expected from the City Council was not being done?
this should not just be talk..let them put it into action especially for schools…
Prevention is cheaper than cure look at much have been spent on combating chorela compared to paying lunch allowances to your public health inspectors from the council and also clinics to conducting routine inspections of all public places. The council collects a lot of money from business premises, you can use some of it to make sure these places are operating according to standards.

I have said it before and i will say it again. The problem we have in Africa is misplaced priorities. So according to govt the priority was buying “wheelbarrows” which look like fire tenders and not waste disposal management. You dont have to be a rocket scientist to have such basic understanding.Or do they just pretend and concentrate on projects which they know their hands will be oiled.
People have to die before authorities do their work. Routine Health inspection is self explanatory

Is something to be proud of when it’s actually what your job description says? Councils have lost it. How else can you describe them when workers who are employed to work in townships spend working hours drinking kangala and no disciplinary action is taken. These people receive salaries and as such they’re supposed to work for this money full shift.
Leave the council alone how do you expect the council to do inspections when the government employed very experience and educated technical staff in the name of cadres who are controlling all the funds of markets and stations .for the council to do that job they need fuel, vehicles but where do they get all these things when they don’t have revenues. Let the government allow the council to do their job. With their little education they can do better than those PHDs holders/untoucbles in the street running markets and station. .
