Four year old burnt to ashes

A Four year-old girl of Isoka district in Northern Province has been burnt to death after a house in which she was sleeping caught fire.

Northern division police commanding officer, Charles Lungu and mother to the deceased girl Getrude Mofu confirmed the incident to ZANIS in separate interviews, today.

The deceased girl has been identified as Finala Nakawala of Sichitambule village in chief Mwenifungwe in Isoka east constituency.

Ms Mofu said she left her daughter in the care of her husband Douglas Ng’ambi who is a step father to the deceased girl.

She narrated that she went to a beer party within the area while her husband opted to remain behind.

Ms Mofu said she was later informed that her house was on fire and that efforts to locate her daughter who was sleeping in the burning house had proved futile.

She added that the body of her daughter was retrieved from the burnt house and her husband was only located later sleeping in another house after the girls’ body had been retrieved from the burnt house.

Ng’ambi has since been arrested and is detained at Isoka police station to assist with investigations as police suspect foul play in the death of the young girl.
