Young Arrows Jettison Mulao

Alfred Mulao has become the third Faz Premier Division coaching casualty in a space of two weeks following his dismissal from bottom placed Young Arrows.

Mulao has been replaced by former Zambia international Tennant Chilumba.

The fired Young Arrows coach joins Mohamed Fathy and George Lwandamina who were recently fired by Power Dynamos and Green Buffaloes respectively.

Young Arrows currently lie bottom of the Faz Premier Division table on in 16th place with 13 points from 19 games played.

This will be Chilumba’s first head coaching appointment in the top-flight after previously training Prisons Leopards last season and prior to that was assistant at Kabwe Warriors under Fathy.

Meanwhile, Chilumba is one of 54 coaches whom the Zambia Football Coaches Association (ZAFCA) has banned from duties on the bench at their respective clubs for non-payment of membership fees.

According to a statement released today by ZAFCA general secretary Simataa Simataa, Chilumba is amongst 13 head and assistant coaches from the Faz Premier Division on that list.

The Premier Division list of shame includes new Power coach Fordson Kabole, Warriors trainer Levy Chabala, Linos Makwaza from Forest Rangers and Aggrey Chiyangi of Chambishi including his number two John Lungu.

Others are Nakambala coach Dick Ngwenya, Mathews Phiri from Red Arrows including his assistant Harrison Tembo.

Choma Eagles coach Keegan Mumba, City of Lusaka’s Happy Sichikolo, Buffaloes caretaker coach Alfred Lupiya and Zesco assistant Masautso Mwale complete the list of top-flight coaches on the list.

Prominent non-paid up coaches in the lower league include Jericho Shinde from division 2 north side Zanama B Rovers, Kenneth Malitoli from division 1 north clubs Kalulushi Modern Stars.

Kitwe United’s Lawrence “Big Jim” Mweemba and Nkana head coach Fewdays Musonda including coaching instructor Honor Janza are the other notable names on the ZAFCA list of trainers barred from the bench who have failed to pay their membership dues.
