President Rupiah Banda today admitted that the Zambia national team line-up looks uninspiringly predictable.

President Banda said at State House when he hosted the Africa Cup Trophy tour ambassador Abedi Pele Ayew today that Herve Renard should open his doors to younger talent at home and abroad.

“Don’t feel obliged to have the same players,” the president said.

“We are always with the same team and you can literary guess the starting line-up. We should not be prejudiced.”

President Banda also said while it was an honor for the Africa Cup make Zambia its second stop on its continental tour, the onus was on Renard’s team to do better.

“It is terrible to look at such a beautiful trophy for other people to win it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Collins Mbesuma and four other South African-based call-ups have joined the Zambia camp in Kitwe today ahead of Saturday’s 2010 Group C qualifier against Egypt in Chililabombwe.

Mbesuma of Moroka Swallows arrived in the country on Monday evening.

Others are goalkeepers Kennedy Mweene and Kalililo Kakonje from Free State Stars and Amazulu respectively including defender Joseph Musonda of Golden Arrows.

And Egypt are expected to arrive on Wednesday in Ndola on a chartered plane around 07:00 hours.

  1. RB never ceases to amaze me. Which other young players/talent home and abroad do we have? The players HR has chosen are the “best” players Zambia has at the moment. Surely for once these politicians should consult their advisors before opoening their mouths.

  2. Well done Mighty. We are an inch close to promotion. Ba FAZ, why re-call Mbesuma? Cant u notice that the chap is finished.

  3. I think its better for RB to let people who understand football better do the talking.Do your work well others will do theirs likewise.

  4. Bravo never lose sight of promotion come the next season of play.Forget about who is in front and behind simply keep focused.
