Baroka confirm Wedson as coach

Chipolopolo coach Wedson Nyirenda
Chipolopolo coach Wedson Nyirenda
South African PSL club Baroka FC have confirmed Wedson Nyirenda as head coach.

The news was the worst kept secret following Nyirenda decision to resign as Chipolopolo coach on May 24.

“Yes, Nyirenda is the man who will be taking the reins as from the upcoming season,” Baroka owner Khurishi Mphahlele said told The Sowetan Newspaper.

“We agreed a two-year deal with another one year option.”

This is Nyirenda’s third foreign club stop after stints in Mozambique at HCB Songo in 2013 and Ferroviario Beira prior to taking over the Chipolopolo job in September, 2016.

Baroka, who were promoted in 2015, finished third from bottom last season at number 14.

  1. This is very good news for Zambian Football. We are finally sure FAZ will be looking for another coach and not holding own Wada piece of wood.

  2. Wish you all the best Wedison ….the Zambian National job was too big for you; best you focus on acquiring some more coaching badges during off season at Baroka!!

  3. Give that man a lot of drawing boards. He always needs them after every loss. Good luck Wada. Just do your job and be in a perpetual “we are building a team.”

  4. So what was the European Training fuss about? Ninshi ba FAZ tabalandilefye ati alefwaya inchito kumbi? A resignation should not be taken like its a bad thing, it is your right to resign. Don’t just be emotional about it.

  5. Thanks Wedson. Well tried. You are not a bad coach, this is the only truth, the other, Katwishi. There is time for every thing and now is your time to move on. Please ignore the dunder heads trying to portray you as useless and posting nonsense here, they are infact more useless themselves. All the best Mwana wa kwithu

  6. I don’t think you failed us _there are a lot of positives the copper bullets learnt from you than negatives _ Mr wada the career path you have taken is promising ,_ go for it bravo

  7. I won’t miss u, u terribly took us on a path of loosing at home.take extra careful in SA, remember Komphela for Kaizer Chiefs and the burning of terraces.

  8. @8 STONE NYIRENDA IS THE FATHER TO WEDSON NYIRENDA U MUST RESEARCH BEFORE USING UR STINKING FINGERS ON THE TYPING BOARD

  9. I rarely see all players we have exported to SA actively participating in PSL. Hope he doesnt go quiet too! A club is your size, you have done well. Kamanga and friends would have destroyed you. Good lack…..

  10. @ANYOKO-YOU ARE THE ONE WHO NEEDS RESEARCH. THEY ARE BROTHERS. YOU KEEP QUIET WHEN YOU DON’T KNOW -SILENCE CAN’T BE MISQUOTED!

  11. Coach Wada thanks for the good things you brought to the national team. Thanks for giving exposure to Augustine Mulenga and Justin Shonga. You did your part. We need another person to urge us forward. Wish the best at Baroka. FAZ you have an opportunity to take us to the world cup by giving us the best coach. I believe in my team and wait for the day we will be there. I hope sooner than later. ALL THE BEST WADA

  12. Wishing u well in the new job that u have taken on……..otherwise For Chipolopolo you failed u lamentable

  13. If you want people to call you a good person it means you are dead just praise God for the time given to you as you was coaching

  14. This is the only Zambian coach to win at national level on Arab soil. Let that sink in for a moment. All the best coach!

  15. All the best Wedson. You did your part for the National team. Wish you well in your new career path!
