A Consortium of NGOs, churches, trade unions and concerned citizens has denounced the planned demonstrations against the acquittal of former President, Frederick Chiluba.
The consortium, which met at Lusaka’s ZAMCOM Lodge on Thursday called on all Zambians to respect the court’s verdict in the case involving Dr.Chiluba.
It also resolved to discourage citizens from participating in activities that have potential to destabilize the nation.
Bible Gospel Church in Africa Overseer, Bishop Peter Ndhlovu called for action against people agitating anarchy.
World Baptist Churches Association Founder, Bishop Billy Bwanali said people should focus on praying for the government of the day and not pushing for agendas that may divide the nation.
And National Union of Commercial and Industrial Workers President, Seth Paradza, said President Rupiah Banda must be supported in his efforts to reconcile the nation.
Evangelical Youth Alliance President Mose Lungu said Zambia’s peace should not be disturbed by a few members of the civil society championing foreign agendas.

There are dogs in Zambian, churches,Trade unions and so called NGOs.Is it not these same bastards who were calling for his blood when the late Cabbage Mwanawasa was pretending to to be fighting corruption.Zambia is surely full of crap!
Disillusioned extremists consisting Fr. Bwalya, Fr. Besa,Fr. Mwewa, Mark Chona, Simon Zukas, Sam Mulafulafu, Fred Mmembe, George Mpombo, and Hichilema being coached by head of the Genocide Zambia cell Fr. Henriot calling themselves 18 NGOs are recklessly gambling themselves in fantasy.Law and peace loving citizens will prove them wrong that we are patriots capable ruthlessly purging out mercenaries.
Wel, thats their opinion, the rest of us believe chiluba is a thief and should be caged…..
Non Genius Organizations(NGOs) should be aware that injustice always disturbs peace.
Lusaka Times, you have not mentioned the plans of these NGOs against those who will demonstrate. This is not good LT. Everywhere else we have read that they plan to disrupt the peaceful demonstrations against the Acquittal. Why LT? Why???
“SPEAKING THIS MORNING DURING A PRESS BRIEFING ORGANIZATION SECRETARY-GENERAL LAIFORD MWANZA WARNED THAT IF POLICE GIVE THE EIGHTEEN CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS A POLICE PERMIT TO HOLD DEMONSTRATION THEN THE THIRTY CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE IN SUPPORT OF CHILUBA’S ACQUITTAL WILL MOBILIZE AND COUNTERATTACK THE DEMONSTRATORS.” this is what Lusaka Times omitted from the Article.
Now who the f&%k are these a$$holes?
Here we go Chilubanism again…let the people PEACEFULLY demonstrate it is their right. None of these pharisees denounced the controversial foolish demonstration at the British Embassy. These pharisees and selected NGO’s never supported the teachers, nurses and doctors when they needed a pay increase. You can not have your cake and eat it. If you let one part of society demonstrate peacefully let the others do the same peacefully. Leaders should know they are accountable to Zambians on how they handle public funds.
Someone cant even tell you where $8.5m in GRZ a/c then u r blocking an appeal. If there was devine intervention (not human) in his acquital then surely God cant fail 2 interven at supreme court level. But what are they fearing was it human interferrance. I remember we had similar groups in 2001 claiming FTJ was the only anointed 1 2 rule Zambia. God u intervened in 2001 help us even now.

Bishop ndhlovu you are an embarassment. Surely i had alot of respect for you but out all people in this country you to promote violence. God what is happening to these servants of yours. May God deliver this Bishop
What the hell is wrong with our country kanshi?
Myself….there is nothing wrong with our country! The problem is the *****s who run it. Our country has everything and we could be the envy of the world if only we had leaders who were capable of fulfilling the needs and wishes of our people.
God bless Zambia, too much drama.
Who are these so-called NGOs?
These are basically churches backing Chiluba for his proclamation of Zambia as a christian nation. The heading is misleading. I doubt any genuine NGOs would support this low life and the banfoon Banda. NGOs by definition are for the people and not thieves
BIGOCA, is it that church in kamwala where they dance dombolo through out? At least i know that loose Trade union of casual workers and one would understand that its members hardly afford to put food on their tables, so contributions are the last thing members would want to waste their hard earned peanuts on. LT we have always complained about you giving space to these hired guns chabashani kanshi.
Senior Citizen, Patriot, PragmaFist, EASY, Nationalist, SAGE is one and the same muppet so fellow bloggers don’t be fooled he’s a lone ranger having a tough time with middle age crisis.
2.
Nationalist: When Levy was alive non of challenged the prosecution and all of “wanted” Ka Chiluba to be sent to jail. Bamukonka mwela imwe. With people like you we will never advance. In China thieves regardless of their status are publicly excuted as a deterent to those who would be plunderers. That is why China can even buy mines in Zambia. Their weath did not come from political rhetoric. Chaps like will change their tune on Chiluba should another government come in. Dont bore us we have had enough of this parroting for far too long.
The whole law under the sun sucks. We need Jesus to come soon. The bible sayasall have sinned. Infact there is no president under the sun who is clean. Iraq is where it is because of sins committed by the Bush administration. There is no justice in the world. Those calling for incerceration of FTJ are the worst culprits of stealing, cheating, murders. Very few Zambians are faithful in their dealings. A president by the nature of their job are not free from sinning. Dear Lord Jesus come back quickily and judge the world.
There are sins that can be 4given if one is repentant. Failing to explain the source of $8.5m as a born again as they claim really buffles

I agree with #20. No one is perfect and let’s respect the decision of our courts. The man has not been proved guilty by the court beyond reasonable doubt to be sent to jail. Remember during Mwanawaa, FTJ was found with more than 100 cases that all dropped to only 5. what happened? Some one enlighten me as a layman in law circles.
THATS WHAT THE CHURCH SHOULD BE CHAMPIONING FOR! THOSE FEW INDIVIDULAS SHOULD BE SPANKED BY LAW, WERE ARE THE POLICE RCRUITEES, USE THEM GUYS TO TEACH THEM A LESSON!!!
The majority of Zambians are surviving through criminal activities that include tax evasion and thefts. Simple accounts clerks in Lusaka own mansions and drive expensive cars. Infact some of you bloggers in the diaspora got there through very croocked and corrupt means. Which politician or civic leader has no skeleton in their closet? The whole nation needs deliverance from various vices. I would also agree of course that to a great extent the church does not operate as a vanguard of the nation. Various churches have backed certain politians. We all know the churches supporting certain individuals or political parties. Shame on you Zambians. We are lacking mature and intelligent analyses of issues.
#1 There is no need of name calling. Pipo are divided. There are those for and against Chiluba’s aquital. If you remember 3rd Term issue, it was the same. As ffor the likes of Bishop Ndhovu and others these are the ones who wrongly shared the national cake FTJ. As for this country to move forward and now that RB as Republican President stated in Kasama according to the “Post” of 15/10/09. Lets us put behind the FTJ issues and forge ahead a nation. FTJ had his time and we witnessed it. We have so many things to sort out for our own well being. Those who are still wanting FTJ in jail wthether dead or live have much time to waste or are acting in behalf of some invisible forces. The whole thing has taken a political path than legal and if pushed further it will claim more casualties. Lets…
At #22 Shepherd. Are you born again? And what is to be born again?
It would have been very sad to send FTJ to jail, a man who ruled us for 10 yearz(twice overwhelmingly voted by Zambianz). But to declare him innocent and that some quarterz of society even start dancing about it iz extremly sad. He may not have been a devil, but waz certainly not an angel.
