Government has handed over a mobile hospital consisting of seven trucks to Zambia Army to enhance health service delivery to the defence personnel and the general citizenry.

The mobile units consists of a laboratory, x-ray, pharmacy, theater among others.

Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary for Administration (PS) Kennedy Malama who handed over the mobile hospital said government is committed to providing health services to all areas of the country.

He stated that the mobile unit will help provide outreach programs to far flung areas adding that the facility is as good as any general hospital in the country.

Dr. Malama urged the defence force to adhere to standard operating procedures to ensure that the equipment is well maintained.

And Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary, Sturdy Mwale said the equipment would go a long way in providing health services to the military personnel and the general public.

“90% of patients attended to in our military hospitals are civilians so this mobile hospital will benefit members of the public as well,” he said.

He assured that the officers will adhere to the good maintenance of the mobile unit to prolong its life span.
