queen-elizabethQueen Elizabeth II of Britain has congratulated President Rupiah Banda and the people of Zambia on the country’s National Day which falls on Saturday October 24.

Queen Elizabeth has since wished the people of Zambia happiness and good fortune in the coming year.
This is contained in a press release made available to ZANIS in Lusaka today by the Press and Public Affairs Section of the British High Commission in Zambia.

“It gives me great pleasure to send Your Excellency my warmest greetings on the celebration of your National Day, together with my best wishes for the good fortune and happiness of the people of Zambia in the coming year”, Queen Elizabeth said.

And delivering the Queens Message, British High Commissioner to Zambia Tom Carter added his congratulations to the people of Zambia on marking the 45th anniversary of the country’s independence.

Mr Carter said Zambia and the United Kingdom share a great deal in common, adding that the relationship between the two countries is as warm now as at any point in the 45 years of independence.
He said he has a pleasant task of working with the government and the people of Zambia to ensure that the special relationship between the two countries continues to thrive into the future as well.

He further acknowledged that Queen Elizabeth retains a warm and happy memory of her visit to Zambia in 1979 for the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting that was held in the same year in Lusaka.

Zambia will on Saturday October 24 celebrate her 45th independence anniversary since gaining her independence from British rule in 1964.

  1. There isent much to be proud of. 45 yrs and we can not even have realiable sources of power. Indeni, Zesco, Zamtel, all faliures. It is all down to leadership of regurgitaited persona we have.
The likes of Ronne, VJ to name a few. Then you have an enegy minister who cannot gurantee reliable sources of energy, yet no one does anything. Accountability is non exsistant in zambia. You can be the most useless GRZ maneger, so long as you wear RB chitenges, your job is safe. I personnaly think the day accoutability visists Zambia is the day we shall see results. Untill that day development shall reamain but a fleeting illussion, to be pursued but never attained.

  2. Wow, I am surprised that Her Majesty still remembers this country. I wish she was to come to Zambia. She will be surprised how this country has been destroyed by vultures, hyenas and jackal all in the name of political leaders. May you live long Queen.

  3. The prince’s wife is the largest landowner on the planet — she controls 6,600 million acres of land, one sixth of the earth’s non-ocean surface. Philip said he’d like to come back as a killer virus and wipe out a large chunk of humanity.

  4. These people don’t wish us well ,this what her husband said:
“If I were reincarnated I would wish to be returned to earth as KILLER VIRUS to lower human population levels.”

  5. there is no warm relationship she lies, Govt issued a communique to all embassies to stop talking to Miniters and the press directly. This was after the British High Commissioner misbehaved

  6. Forget about that German woman, Elizabeth. She’s no longer our slave driver. Our real enemies are the # 1 thief, Chiluba, the defender of thieves, Rupiah, and all their lackeys – VJ, Mangani, Big Nose Shikapwasha, Mulongoti, Chief Wizard Katele, etc. What’s there to celebrate about? Zambia could be one of the richest countries in the world – no overstatement. It’s got everything we need to make it to the top – menerals, water, good soils, and a ggod people. But these good people always vote in the worst jackals into power. Masholi!! We are to blame, and independence is yet to come.

  7. Chapwa my bro. you are right on top of things. It’s good bloggers like yourself add info. Before inferiority complex infused fellows arrive. This is the same queen that was in power went our great grandmothers had to strip to fight for our sovereignity; when her fellow women were being treated less than chuwawas while she sipped on that old English tea with crumpets. Though since she is a lady and our mothers in Zambia raised us well, may the Lord have mercy on her and may he grant her his gift of salvation. Here is an off hand topic, if we had spent that 250 to 300 million us dollar investment on a pipeline to Angola there would be no oil drama as of today. These thoughts are before I saw the 500 million being infused into our economy to keep lady kwacha sober.

  8. Imperialist snotty nose woman….
What right did Britain have to invade Africa and imposed their culture on us ,…. just because of their greed for minerals and their gun powder.

On another note It is truly a time to celebrate our independence…. however bad “nyama soya” aka “Bwezani kubuyo” is ruling the country.. his day of reckoning will come.. don’t worry about that…

D.amn those MMD cadres are in for a constipating feasts (scrabble for food) at the State house function or will the Zambian Tourist President be outside the country..

  9. What exactly are we independent from? They still control us through World Bank,IMF and all those governmental organisations. They control us through a usury-based monetary system and yet there are some people who believe the country would be better off if the Queen was still head of the country. Guess what? She still is – you continue to send your children, wives, husbands to her more wealthy colonies (UK,Canada,US) as tribute. What are we left with? nothing. A country where unemployment is more than 50% – over 80% of the population live below the poverty line. What is there to celebrate about? The continual looting of the country by the village *****s now in government at the behest of their ‘controllers’? It should be a day of mourning and reflection. Now pass me the munkoyo I am…

  10. Well despite our poverty, we will still celebrate our freedom tomorow somewhere in Randburg here in sweety JOZI. That is the best we can do to remember those that fought for our independence from the illegal settlers and looters.

  11. Iron Lion #15, where exactly in Randburg? I wanna join u and party. Happy Birthday Mama Zed. We luv u with passion. God bless all Zambians on this planet and forgive Akulu Mpumo for taking the country 20 years backwards.

  12. Really looking at 45 years of independence what is there to celebrate?, Hunger, unmployment, no drugs in hospitals, poor education facilities, poor road infrastructure, no fuel in the country and worst of all so selfish politicians. Even those countries that have experienced civial strives in their countries are doing far MUCH BETTER economicaly than us. Are we to eat peace?

  13. KK and other freedom fighters fought for black majority rule but now we have a minority government in charge. Something is seriously wrong with our politics……..

  14. #14, I hear your point. With all due respect, I could careless about what the Queen says. This is the same (recycled) message she sends every year since the KK days. How can we even applaud her statement when don’t even have fair trade and easy access for our goods and services to the european market in particular? In my opinion, we are still being controlled by the imperialists. Independence….what independence? We are still Britain dependent…like it or not my friends. And some of you wondered why the British government can comment and suggest how our high commission offices should be run? Think again my friends, we are celebrating independence fro all the wrong reasons. Having said that, I’ll drink to that! Happy chipolopolo ba Zambia. You know where to find me already!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Independnce to us meant to be freed of British slavery. Little did we know that we were going to have even worse masters, black like ourselves, greedier than the Queen, ruthless and, unlike the Queen, common thives. Gereetings to all my fellow citizens, patrioyts and puppets alike. This is a special day that we must wrestle from the fangs of these MMD gangsters like Rupiah, Kafupi, Sata…the lot! Kaufela mina babusisi, zwaaa!!!

  16. #16, that sounds like some basic lecture material from UNZA’s freshman political science class – PL110. Come on, we all know about imperialism. We do. They let us “free”, and re-einslaved us through trade. we know that. we can no longer blame the white man for all the evil we do to each other – black-on-black-violence, political intolerance, false imprisonment, VJ rigging elections, failing to provide the necessities of life to our people. (Well, even the US has failed to provide healthcare to its people). We know all that. But we only have ourselves to blame for the imbalanced trade. Look at whjat Japan did after WWII? Singapore. Malaysia. Come on! Give us a break. “I’m hungry because of the white Queen!” Quit it!

  17. ….#23 you’re mistaken-am not blaming the “white man” or the “white woman-the queen” either, am just stating the facts. Ever since our copper supply hit rock bottom, Europe and the queen (Britain) doesn’t give a sh1t about Zambia period. My point was, we call it independence right? But what is it that Zambia is doing that is independent of it’s former master? The only thing Britain is not controlling is the way our government knuckle heads keep ruining down the damn country and guess what, your white man is loving it. What better way to see the total collapse of a nation than have it’s own leaders fight among themselves and in the end, (YOU) the poor citizen ends up suffering. And you’re right. The majority of the suffering in Zed today is because of poor management of the…
