Kasama Municipal Council shuts down Shoprite supermarket

The Kasama Municipal Council on Monday closed Shoprite supermarket for violating the Public Health Act.

And Council Public Relations Assistant Officer, Caroline Simumba told Journalists that a warning notice was issued on the premises on the 27th June to abate the nuisance within 24 hours.

Ms. Simumba added that after several verbal and a written warning notices, no action had been taken by Shoprite to abate the defects.

Meanwhile, the local authority has given a 24 hours ultimatum to Lions Club Bar to control its loud music, improve sanitary conditions and to stick to permitted operating hours.

  1. this is what councils are supposed to be doing; not Saboi promising a return to street vending; what did this young lady lecture at UNZA? no wonder the UNZA of today can’t perform; well done Kasama Council;

  2. Way to go Kasama Municipal council. Ba Ndola, friendly city, please follow suit on loud noise. Town center is like a disco as early as 09.00hrs.! control this noise pollution PLEASE.
