Lwandamina refuses to surrender CAF Champions League battle

Zesco United coach George Lwandamina is refusing to surrender the fight to reach the quarterfinals of the 2018 CAF Champions League.

Zesco’s hopes dimmed on Friday night in Angola where they lost 2-1 against Primeiro de Agosto in Luanda.

The result saw Zesco remain winless from four games and slumped at the bottom of Group D with two points with as many games left to play.

Zesco are three points behind second placed Agosto and another two adrift of their next opponents Mbabane Swallows who are third.

“Yes, it is very painful losing in the circumstances we have lost this game,” Lwandamina said.

“But going into the last two games, football is very funny game; we can still come through, not until the dust is settled.”

Defeat or a draw for Zesco away in their penultimate Group D match in eSwatini on August 18 will end their quarterfinal interest in the 2018 CAF Champions League.

Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia led Group D on 10 points and has qualified with two games to spare thanks to their healthy goal difference.

  1. The striking force for Zesco was not good enough to find the back of the net, they should work on frontline, mid field nuts should be also adjusted for better results

  2. Just like the government and ruling party, the football team is useless and a waste of space and resources.

  3. THE TITLE IS MISLEADING, ITS AS THOUGH CHICKEN HAS ALREADY LOST IT AND NEEDS TO SURRENDER BUT REFUSING
