Police in Lusaka have arrested a woman of Lusaka’s Chazanga Compound identified as Mary Phiri aged 46 in connection with the murder of her husband identified as Solomon Zulu aged 54.

Brief facts are that on 26th October, 2018 between 04 00 hours and 0430 hours, Mary Phiri allegedly set ablaze the house, which the couple was renting, after locking her husband inside the house.

The victim was rescued by the Landlord Lazarous Mwila who heard him call for help and when he went outside, he noticed that the house in which the victim was sleeping, was on fire and that the victim was trying to escape through a window which unfortunately was small.

Police spokesperson Esther Katongo said the victim suffered severe burns and was rushed to Chipata first level Hospital and later to UTH where he died yesterday at about 1100 hours.

Mrs. Katongo said at about 17:45 hours, members of the public managed to apprehend the suspect who had initially run away and handed her over to Police.

She said the body of the deceased is in UTH mortuary while the suspect is in police custody yet to be charged with Murder and Arson.

  1. PF firetrucks phenomenal.
Zambians never knew power of fire, until they were showed that 1 fire is worth a million dollars.

    • Let to differentiate between serious matter and jokes.

Thats why your candidate will never rule this great nation because he draws support from your kind. Very immature u5s

    • Instead of keeping it under wraps, he probably exposed his penis to another woman and wife found out. Nubian Princes, what’s your comment?

  2. Zambia Police Arrest a woman for allegedly killing her husband by setting the house ablaze, it should read.

  3. What’s this world coming to indeed. I feel for the next generation of our children. When I was growing up, I don’t remember hearing such stories of women brutally killing their husbands. I also observed that whenever marital or family issues threatened to escalate, family elders (ba kaputula milandu) would intervene and ensure that matters are resolved peacefully.

    • You mean you only heard about men killing women , well things have turned around now. The so called (ba kaputula milandu)also need help how can they help others?

    • Aisha mentality kikikiki. Tribal to the core . If u5 became president you will see banjo guitars in lsk streets. Even at state house chibwato and tuma banjo on independence day

  4. Such deaths are common in Mporokoso and Luwingu. If you divorce a woman in these regions then flee the house as well because you’re not safe. Now it has come to Lusaka? Lord help us! A woman can only get the courage to do that if there’s another man involved. She saw the husband as a nuisance

  5. Warning to men: Please don’t use mwana apeluke on other people’s wives. It gets to their brains

  6. Crazy people in this world! First you lock up your hubby in the house and set it on fire, the house which is not even yours thereby murdering your hubby. The tricky thing about these marriages is that people have completely departed from what the Bible says about marriage. If people strictly observed the Biblical teachings on marriage no marriage would fail in the world. It could have been better if she had left the matrimonial home and start a life on her own.Very unfortunate that she has to spend the rest of her life behind bars
