Northwestern Province Permanent Secretary Ephraim Mateyo has commended the police command for disengaging two undisciplined police officers from the service.
Mr Mateyo says the action is a clear indication of efforts being made in bringing sanity in the police service and restore community confidence.
He advised that there is need for re-orientation on the correct use of firearms by police officers, adding that even under pressure, the officers should value life and apply minimum force to correct wrong doings.
Mr. Mateyo was speaking in a speech read on his behalf by Kasempa District Commissioner Goodson Nsansakuwa during the 2018 Northwestern division police annual ball held last night.
Mr Mateyo, who is also former Inspector General of Police assured officers of government’s continued support towards addressing the numerous challenges being faced as evident by the construction of the division headquarters and other structures in the province.
Speaking earlier, provincial Commissioner of Police Hudson Namachila urged the Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU) to raise the bar against burglaries and breakings which have been on record high in the region.
Mr Namachila said of late the police have recorded a number of aggravated robberies targeted at miners who are either going or knocking off from work.
He has since called on miners and the general public to be mindful of their personal security especially after 22:00 hours when burglaries are active and stop moving with large sums of money.
Many more officers should be fished out and fired!!
The traffic police needs a complete overhaul
They should be sharing a room first at Mukobeko for a while with the 5x loser GUINESS BOOK WORLD RECORD HOLDER after being fired at MUKOBEKO. That will help.
All Zambian minister’s they should work together has a team.
SO MINERS HAVE ALOT OF MONEY AND U ARE BUSY SAYING PF HASNT PUT MONEY IN PIPOS POCKETS
Efraim Mateyo did not fire any corrupt cop during his time, does this mean he didn’t know there was corruption in police force? Those who were caught were just unfortunate. Otherwise corruption is deep rooted in the police no need to speak in circles. I wish God from heaven could one day show a video to the world about what the police do on those fake roadblocks.
Comment:. Poor reporting; the reporter should briefly mention what the dismissed officers did and where the incident happened.
