IBA urged to regulate ‘irresponsible’ media houses

LUAPULA Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa
LUAPULA Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa

Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa has asked the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) to regulate media houses that are perpetuating hatred among the Zambian people.

Speaking at a media briefing in Mansa yesterday, Mr. Chilangwa said it was wrong for certain media houses to use their platforms to insult President Edgar Lungu.

He noted that some media houses have recently been insulting President Lungu for recognising the Bemba grouping as one of the largest groups in the country.

Mr. Chilangwa added that it is the responsibility of IBA to regulate media houses being used for hate speech against the government.

He explained that as a media regulator, IBA should show the Zambian people what it is supposed to do.

Mr. Chilangwa pointed out that people should not accuse President Lungu of insulting the very people who voted for him in the last presidential elections.

He has since apologised to the Head of State for the people that have misrepresented Luapula province and misinformed the Zambian people.

He further said the people of Luapula are grateful for the development that the Patriotic Front (PF) is undertaking in the province.

  1. Yaba amasushi fye yeka yeka. Do these ministers really listen to what they say? I have never ever listened to such political nonsense ever. PF you have scored highest in political mischief!

    • Iwe Spaka Lungu never said that. He was actually paraphrasing so that he could refute the falseities but as he should have known people went for the meanings they wanted to use. Any clever politician should be careful how he says what he wants to say. But Lungu as we all know is dumb

  2. Lungu said 6 out of 10 theives are bemba.

If that means he was saying bembas are the majority, ?

Another way of saying what lungu said is ….if 10 clean law abiding citizens are picked at random, only 4 will be bembas ….but how can this be if they are the majority ???

  3. Bakateka balilufyanya, full stop! It’s like PF is always coming up with new versions of sayings to justify ECL carelessness

  4. By regulating they mean clamp down on any media that is critical of the government. There goes our free speech.

  5. Chilangwa sit down, yes today you are a beneficiary and have the audacity to spew foolishness. Remember your generations to come, will they have the same crap you want to start, go away
